I dig it considerable. 3 on a side headstocks always looked funny to me on Tele or Strat-style guitars, though.

I like that curved pickguard better that you did, Jack.

I like it from the bridge down.

If it came up used for $ 800, I'd buy it, but $ 3,600, don't think so.

I love the idea of Alnico staples in a Tele, but the rest of it just doesn't turn my crank. It'll sell though, someone'll like it.

I'd have to agree...the headstock looks like it belongs on an accoustic. Other than that it's a beauty. The wood grain is very pronounced and is that 2 P-90's?

The "looks" factor aside; Ron Thorn makes as good a guitar as money can buy.

Playing one will change your mind about a lot of things....including, perhaps, the "looks".

This guitar is part of a limited run....he only made ten of these...and they sold out immediately...at $3600.00 each.

That 's a very nice looking guitar. I find it quite amusing how headstocks become such an obsession. I would wager when Leo designed his guitars, function was first on his mind with ease of mass producing. Form followed function.

There's no functional reason for the curves on a Tele headstock, it could have just been a straight line from the bottom of fretboard out to the high H tuner, but it isn't, because it looks better the other way.

Like I said "form follows function". Inline tuners with direct pull came first. Then; lets through in a couple of curves, just a little different look from the Strats.
What "looks better" is purely a personal preference.
Just my observation.

Hi all, new here. First, I confess to being a Thornoholic. I own 2 currently. One is a custom and the other is the spitting image of the above without the hollow/f hole. The P90s in the limba wood rock.

I also have 2 more on order. So, I am outing myself to avoid it later

As to how the headstock looks, well of course everyone has their own style. For me, it just assures me I am playing a top quality instrument.

Here are the two I have now.

I like the one on the left a lot better, the PRS-looking one. I don't think the headstock is ugly so much as it looks out of place on a Tele body.

I like the body a lot. I thought the neck length looked funny, so I checked and yep, it's a 25" scale. I think that's what makes the headstock look even more out of place. I still like the traditional Fender design. For the price, I'd rather have a Custom Shop Fender.

The headstock doesn't stop me at all. It goes well with the whole guitar because it's NOT a Fender anyway... I dig that guitar something fierce.

I'm with Eric on this one ... other than the headstock it looks like a nice variation on the Tele-theme. Bet it sounds good too ... not necessarily like a Tele - but good nevertheless ...

i really like the headstock.

in my opinion, most 6-inline non fender headstocks look horrendous to me.

If it's not going to be a real fender shape, might as well be something classy like a 3 on a side rather than a hockey stick or Cort style dealy, or even worse, the G&L style.

Personally, what is above the nut is no concern to me, be it shape or logo. I cant see it while playing except the top down look, and it would not bother me to only see three tuners along the top. Hope it rocks!

I think the headstock is fine. A lot nicer than the pointy "avoid the trademark" designs out there. They look nice (to me anyway).

I'll have to side with the "odd headstock, but she's a real beaut" club. Been GASsin' for a P-90 equipped Tele for some time now.
