Too bad the only thing we have to judge it by is a photo.

This thread is completely unfair to the guitar pictured in it.

Some of us are only concerned with performance. Others are more concerned with looks.

Believe me, when it comes to performance, Ron Thorn's guitars are pretty much ruling the pack.

For me - it's all about Feel and Tone.
Nothing else really matters.

I care about looks. Looks do matter.

But based on everything I've ever read or heard, this is a guitar you would never want to part with.

I made a Tele with a 3/3 headstock once. I kinda liked it and some guy in Japan REALLY liked it. Last I saw, it was featured on a Japanese porno site.

Hey, wouldn't be the first time I fell for a nice body with a questionable headstock. We're still talking about guitars, right?

Funny, I've always wanted a Fender neck with a slotted Martin style peghead with a proper Spanish luthier's head joint...

That would be a Tony Zemaitis style guitar done on a Tele body shape. ACZ did several with a similar but moore sharply curved outline.

Good eye Keith. There is too little appreciation for Tony's work (IMO).
I've built several Zemaitis copies that were a lot more accurate but this one was my annual Masonic Charity guitar. I just used my Ron Kirn template for the body and added the round pick guard and Z headstock. I think that head looks great on almost anything.

I like it.

I like the 3 + 3 thing, prefer the Telecaster headstock best of all, but I do like that.

I like their wood. Very eye catching.
I don't usually pay that much attention to the headstock.
So that point is moot to me, but I like them, the only problem being they are all sold.

Not so, Ron is accepting new orders and usually delivers within 12 weeks if I recall correctly...

I used to think the perfect guitar would be a Strat with a Flying V headstock.
I'm glad I outgrew that.

Didn't someone here on the forum have a gold-topped Tele with a ppainted (also gold) Flying V headstock. That one looked really cool, but the "over-the-top-ness" of the gold-top was a big part of it, I guess he couldn not have pulled that off with, say, a vintage blonde Tel and a maple neck with an unpainted Flying V headstock...
