Hey guys im new here and I have a few questions for you all
Hey guys im new arround here and I have to admit ive got the Tele bug
Have any of you played or owned a Squire Standard Telecaster? Do these sound like a proper Telecaster does?(by proper I mean do they actually sound life a Telecaster or are they like cheap unbranded strats that sound nothing like proper strats) Whats the build quality on them like? If you own one have you done any mods to it andwhat where the results (i.e. sustain improvement, lower action ect.)? And could you share pictures of your mods aswell please. So after all of that are they worth dropping around £60-£80 on (bit more than a Digitech Bad Monkey)? Many thanks folks Mike P.S. - Im already loving the forum and I think im going to be arround for a while |

Hi Mike & welcome !
A Squier Telecaster is a good place to start if you're low on cash. But you will soon feel the need for a better one, and believe me: if you hang around in here for a while, you definitely WILL need another Telecaster. An alternative would be a second hand Mexican Standard. |

These are very good REAL tele's. I have bought two in the last six months, one to keep more or less stock, one for mods. One of these is very near the best tele I ever owned. Excellent build quality. For 200.00 US very hard to get a used tele this good for the price.
PS: Welcome to TDPRI !!!

I was just wondering because im a student on a budget and i already have Squire Strat and Epi Les Paul and they seem far supperior to me than their£2000 counterparts that I have played. I wondered if the Tele would be the same with a few mods to it.

The SQ STD tele does Telecaster better than the Squier Strat does Stratocaster. Way better, try one and you will see!

I'd say to look for a used MIM or MIJ/CIJ. You could end up with a guitar you won't need to "upgrade". Just buy better parts as things break or wear out. Having said that I played a Squier Standard the other day and it was definitely fit to bear the name of Telecaster.

Welcome to the tribe. I'd say eighty quid's a bargain if the instrument's in reasonable nick, and if you feel the need as time passes you can always upgrade pickups and hardware as you go along.
