Questionable Ebay offerings?

This seller has several guitars for sale....a Thinline, Strat, Gibson, and a Martin D28.

http://cgi.ebay.com/2002-FENDER-TELE...QQcmdZViewItem

I can't vouch for the electrics, but the Martin got me suspicious. The D28 doesn't come with a black headstock or pickguard, the rosewood body is way too reddish, and the lable appears to be a fake. Martin puts serial #'s inside the guitar at the neck joint, not on a paper lable.

I've confirmed the authenticity (or lack thereof) with the experts at the Unoffical Martin Guitar Forum....all agree that this acoustic is a fake.

If one guitar is suspect, I'd have reservations about the others as well.

Caveat Emptor.

That's the reason I posted the one I did. Ebay is not policing this like they did or promise to!

Doesn't Martin have a hotline where you can check for the serial number? It is very clear and visible in one photo and at least they can tell if the serial fits the instrument. I've done the same with a Gibson Les Paul and the Gibson guy on the phone could tell me that the serial number belongs to a Les Paul finished in gold and it left the factory some time in 1993.
Martin can probably do the same?!?

I forwarded the Ebay link to the Martin Forum, of which I'm a member. The moderator there has regular contact with the folks at the factory in Nazareth, Pa. He confirmed what I had suspected.

Did any of the MIMs come with a 'vintage' type 3 saddle bridge?

Well, at least the t-h-i-c-k coat of polyester is MIM correct.
