more questions about building an esquire (solid rosewood neck content)...
so do you guys think if i ordered a light swamp ash body from guitarmill, and then slapped on a solid rosewood neck (not just fretboard, like the whole neck), would it throw off the balance? like, when i had it on a strap, would the neck pull the body up towards my chin? i just think a honey blonde esquire w/ a blackguard, and then an unfinished rosewood neck (headstock and all) would look awesome. it seems like the rosewood neck would darken the brightness of the ash body too....
it looks like this build would be about $950.00. i'm trying to decide between this custom build, and just buying a HW1 texas tele and turning it into an esquire.... choices are rough... |

While the all-rosewood neck was very beautiful, I couldn't really use the guitar due to the tone, and we ended up swapping out for a 1-pc maple neck without a trussrod. If you are going to display the guitar, the rosewood looks awesome. If you want to play it, I would advise going to the more traditional neck woods for the tone. It does make a big difference. YMMV, just my $.02 |
