I Need Help to choose my new Telecaster
Hi all
i about to buy a telecaster, but i m totally lost in the jungle ... i don't know what i must choose to do the right choice ... I play Rockabilly/Country/Blues and i would like a telecaster with a maple thin neck, vintage blonde body (Nitrocellulose Lacquer Finish). There is also Nash Guitar who made a beautiful T-52 Blonde, but i m hesitating. I prefer choose a true Fender Telecaster, but with a good price (2700 $ Max). I wait your help, pics and councils ... Thanks in advance :-) |

I suggest a 60's RI with a maple cap. That should give you the maple neck and thin profile you are looking for. Usually the 50s RI have thicker necks. Dave's Guitar Shop has several of these to choose from. Here's a link for a Dakota Red version http://www.davesguitar.com/products.html?13256
I believe these are special orders and it's quite possible that other dealers have some as well. I'm not sure if the price is $2,700 or less, but I would expect it to be in the ballpark.

With your budget, you should have no trouble finding a good guitar.
The 52-RI is a pretty sweet classic. Any of the MIA Vintage RI series would actually probably be right up your alley. Also, though they may be a bit more modern, the standard MIAs are all pretty solid workhorse guitars. Might not be quite as vintage-y as you like, but they're damn versitile if you play a wide cross-section of styles. The vintage RIs are great, but to my ears, they seem to lean more towards the cleaner sounding music, the pickups weren't really designed to have gobs of distortion go through them. Just my opinion, though. You could probably even afford a Fender Custom Shop guitar with that amount of money.
