Let's See Your Dakota Red Tele's

If you would, show me your Dakota Red Teles. I don't have one (yet) but I am looking to build one. If any of you fine forumites have an example pic, I'd LOVE to see it!

Maybe this got lost in the shuffle, or maybe nobody has one...just thought I'd give it one bump out of curiosity.

csapo--Thanks! They DO exist!

Hey, those are both great looking guitars.

I've been thinking about doing a Dokata Red myself. It helps to see the examples. Its my favorite shade of red for a Tele.

I don't have a Dakota red guitar...yet, but it is by far my favorite shade of red like you said. Great looking Tele.

I've got no horse in this race - Just wanted to compliment you csapo on that Dakota Red beauty. One of my favorite custom colours too (admired from afar).

This Dakota Red is a CS '52RI Relic, for sale at Dave's Guitar in WI (my fave online retailer)

Dakota red is a solid dark red. Candy apple red is a metalic undercoat (some were silver & some I believe were bronze or copper) with a red tinted top coat that allows you to see the metalic underneath. Chrome red I believe is a solid red, like Dakota, but with metalic particles in the red paint. Fiesta red (while we are talkin' red) is a lighter, more orangey red.

This one was red before they had all the different names for red. Saw this yesterday at the Dallas show!

This

is my slabneck Dak R Esq.

This

is the only other other one I've seen, as Hafner's posted. A green guard [like mine] is correct imho for custom color Fenders of this era.

Enjoyed playin' mine today on a friend's demo. "Rear" switch-postion[no tone ctrl] through a Rat, into a Keeley Comp & then Goodrich vol pedal; no "studio" FX needed...

<edit> Ahh well, old guy, old guitar...
BTW, the old boy who 1st had mine musta had a big-ass belt-buckle, maybe a red vest and hat to match...

Came to me with the "troubadour-chord" neck-wear, I added the fat-head and add'l neck-finish reduction

Nice! I think I saw the lower one on ebay a while back. I think We Buy Guitars bought it? Have you ever seen a red maple neck tele like the pic I posted from the Dallas show?

Never seen a '50s/maple-neck Dak R Tele but there might be one out there. Once had both a blonde '60 Tele & the '60 Dak R Esq. Blonde's long gone, Esq's stayin' forever. It's a cool color, but it's sound and feel are key. I snagged the other Dak R Esq's pix off ebay when it was up there.
