Where to purchase ... baritone guitar

Can anyone recommend a dealer to purchase a baritone guitar. I'm interested in an inexpensive Danelectro .. new or used. I haven't been able to find anyone that sells them and they don't seem to be manufactured anymore.

I just asked that same question...

...to the owner of the local store I frequent. He said that Dano was not currently shipping, but would probably be back up and shipping by the first of the year.

I'm not sure exactly what's been going on with Dano, but maybe someone around here will know. I've heard everything from being sued by Jerry Jones, to changing domestic distributors.

But, yeah, I'm looking for a re-issue 6-string bass or a baritone, too.

I've heard that Dano is out of business....

This means that some "eBait" clown is gonna soon decide that those guitar are now "collectible items" or something, and the rest of the world would follow....so forget about the Dano-cheapos....

This is the offer at music123...No luck at MF. Sorry man, you'd need about 500 bucks....

Lucky me...

I picked up a used Dano Bari in New Braunfels Tx last weekend for $200.
I have also heard that they are no longer manfg guitars, only pedals.

Jerry Jones or Fender baritones are good

If you think you'll actually play it frequently, spend a little more and get a GOOD baritione. The Jerry Jones guitars are light years ahead of the Korean Danos. Better build quality, better electronics/hardware, much easier to play, sound great and better resale value.

I haven't tried it, but Fender makes a baritone guitar that looks pretty nice. I think its called the SubSonic, or something like that. It may be geared towards the bands that do the drop D tuning thing, but I think it would also work as a baritone.

Good luck,
Dave

Custom Shop "baritone" Tele for under $1100

I saw this item a few weeks ago at guitartrader.com a few weeks and it's still listed:

Custom Shop Tele SubSonic for $1099. 27" scale tuned in B. Your post has rekindled a little GAS,
Mik

How about....

A warmoth or USAG aftermarket baritone neck??
That what I did... Slap it on a spare tele that you aren't using, buy a set of Dano Baritone strings, have your local tech-dude set it up and voila!
You got the deep twang.

baritone tele in action

Two things

I think we're missing the point here.

First, the appeal of the re-issue, imported Dano baritones, is the inexpensive price. Sure there some quality issues, but if you get one with a straight neck, almost everything else can be overlooked, because of the cheap price.

The other thing is tone. There's something to be said of the low-quality design of the Danos. Those things ARE baritone. Just like Teles and twang.

Sure, I'd love to have that SubSonic Tele...It looks fantastic, but at over $1000, I'll wait for the used pawn shop special Dano reissue. And the Jerry Jones are pretty cool too, but the price issue comes into play again.

I found that Subsonic appealing (and on-topic) because of the price and probable quality (Fender Custom Shop product). Not cheap, but $1100 for a new Custom Shop Fender Tele is inexpensive. Of course, good luck to you in your search for a baritone guitar that's right for you,

eBay Today!

Was searching some Danopedals and saw one just today for under $300 at the time I spied it.
I have wanted one for a long time, but other guitars get used more that it would vs. the $$$ that I have to blow.
Choices, choices...
