I would like to see Fender Custom Shop make exact replicas of Bruce Springsteen's esquire-tele, but only for him to take on the road so he can leave the old one at home.

My vote is for Albert Collins.

I could care less about "signature" or "tribute" guitars. Why would i want a guitar that is made to look like someone else's guitar? Seems odd to me...

What i would love to see is a book with detailed photos of famous telecasters that are of interest (Barrett's esquire, Strummer's tele, Ed Bickert's tele). That would be very cool --

+1 on the book. It could be like the blackgaurd book except all famous Teles.. Syd Barretts esquire and 60s custom tele.. Jimmy Page's dragon tele.. Roy's Nancy.. Springsteens Esquire.. Albert Collin's tele..

I'm personally not really a fan of the overpriced Fender tribute guitars. The only one I would even consider buying would be a Syd Barrett mirror disk Esquire since he is the reason I ever played and bought a Tele. Even then it would have to be good and not a ridiculous price or I probably wouldn't bother.

Just been reading the Duchoissoir book, and wouldn't it be funky to see the original prototype in limited form? The old lapsteel wide neck and kluson 3-a-side pegs? Esquire style single pick-up, with the (almost strat like) control plate?

If you're gonna tribute, you gotta tribute Leo!

Gerry
Fender made those already. GC wanted 12,000 dollars for one.

JIMMIE VAUGHAN played a tele for a short period in the early formation of the TBirds and prior bands in Austin. White with white guard. Sorry, don't know the year. Every now and then, I run across a pic on the internet. Strange to see Jimmie without a strat.

I'd like to see the original prototype Tele, produced in Mexico, with a decal, tuner ferrules (since the proto didn't have them) just finished-off as if the prototype were put into production. A $600-700 guitar vs. a $20K beater.
This surely could be the Leo Fender Tribute model.

Gary Busey

Since he played a white tele for almost all of "The Buddy Holly Story" and only played a Strat at the very end. I am a big fan of Buddy and never have seen a pic of Buddy even holding a tele. I still like the movie, but I always found this odd. Given that Busey did actually play the guitar for the film, its legit. Maybe pay $10 more for the fun of having his name on a MIM Tele.

There is already a Joe Strummer replica telecaster and I have seen and played it in store. I am suprised no one is aware of this. Please refer to the 2008 Fender catalogue.

Personally I would like to see a tribute to one of the most unsung of guitar heros around. Mike Campbell's affectionately titled "Big Red", pictured below.

For anyone who doesnt know who Mike Campbell is... I beg you to have a listen to a little band called Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers! <3
