My '62 with Allparts neck, WOW!

Here's my '62 Custom Tele project completed. I received an Allparts nitro neck yesterday and put it on this Rockinger alder body. I had to use a hammer to fit it in, the joint is so tight! And perfect. All I have to say that this is one of the best Teles I'ver ever played! That Allparts neck was perfect after a light fret polish, such a comfortable and fast neck. An no dead strings when bending the upper frets.

I used to have a MIJ '62 RI with a basswood body. What a piece of dead sounding crap compared to this tone monster

They're made in Japan, but they're much better than any MIJ Fender necks I've played. And as far as I know the nitro finish isn't available in MIJ Fender necks.

Easier playing?

How come my new '62 PC with the Allparts neck is much easier to play and bend the strings than with the previous unknown MIJ neck (see my gallery)?
I mean it's a HUGE difference!
It's a joy to play and bend. Same strings (well I changed a fresh set) and same kinda adjustment. Did I accidentally make the nut perfect or sumthin?

Freewheeler: I don't know much about partscasters other than I want to build one someday.

Did you finish it yourself or did you buy the body and neck finished?

Where did you find the decal for the headstock?

What kind of pups and other parts?

The body is a German made Rockinger alder body with poly finish, the neck is Allparts nitro neck. Both were very well finished when I got them. The bridge pup is a Seymour Duncan '54, neck pup is a Fender USA '62 RI. Bridge is a Fender, rest of the hardware is Gotoh. I basically just screwed and soldered everything together. The most demanding job was the nut, which I made of synthetic ivory and slotted it myself. That decal is a genuine Fender decal, I won't tell you how I got it

Very nice pics of a very nice neck!

I have to ask, what camera (and settings) were you using? Those are very nicely detailed pics. Wish I could get my camera to do the same.

Maybe the sun shines differently over there.

really nice job! I love the tint and the color scheme. Just make sure to take off the fender decal if you ever decide to part with it!

Thanks! I use an Olympus E-300 Evolt 8 meg camera. It's not too bad!

Here's a clip of the subject in action:

I received a Fender AV 62 RI bridge pup today, installed it and it's WOW time again! I shooted a digicam movie in which i just noodle around the neck. I think this axe nails the early 60's Tele sound. I had my VOX Big Ben Overdrive on for that extra grit as I played quietly.

A big file, sorry:

Freewheeler, that is a beautiful guitar, nice tone and nice playing!

I have one of those AV '62 bridge pickups in a Tele, paired up with an unknown neck pickup right now and I'm thinking of trying the AV '62 neck. If you're up to it I'd love to hear some clips of the neck and the combo. Do you have it wired modern style?

Looks like threaded saddles - AV '62, MIJ or Allparts?

That IS an AV '62 neck pup. It's really bright, almost Strat-like and the bottom end is great too. Goes together perfectly with the bridge pup. There are all the positions played in my clip. It's wired the modern way with a volume capacitor. That's a MIM 50's Classic bridge with Gotoh threaded saddles. Thanks for diggin!
