Fender Employee Names Rubber Stamped on Neck/Body

Recently purchased my first tele! 1972 Blond with a rosewood neck. I love it. I noticed a few names rubber stamped on the body and thought it would be cool to collect the names of the Fender employees who worked on these fine guitars and see if we find something in common.

Body (in neck cavity) - "T. Chambers" (stamped twice), C. Cochxxx (missing last part of name, R. xxalaxxx (missing most of name), (something stamped in larger green letters (illegible)

Neck - 3 JAN 72 B (heel), "K. Krausfeldt" (underside)

Hi Tele72, and welcome. That's a nice idea, in a quirky sort of way.

Over time, we could identify all the names on guitars and see if there's some correlation between certain individuals and particularly good guitars (sort of like Tadeo's necks).

Then we could make sure the collectors had that information and watch eBay for all these rubber stamped names suddenly appearing on the fakes. We could even make some up, as a joke against the scammers...

Anyway, mine's a 1996 Mexican, and while it has no rubber stamps, a beautiful dark-eyed Mexican enchantress with a figure to die for and smouldering good looks, named Jesica signed her name in white pen under the pickguard.

At least, that's how I imagine her, but don't tell the wife.

I have a pickguard from a 2000 MIM (my first Tele) laying around that has a signature saying "Pablo". Guess that pretty much proves it came from Mexico.

Years ago I had a CIJ 62 Jazz Bass that had some Japanese charecters written in sharpie ink on the hang tag. Always wondered what it said.

A friend of mine has a Dec`72 Strat with "TJ, Go Steelers" written in the control cavaty. I assume that TJ was the person who wierd it, and was excited after the Franco Harris ran in the 'Immaculate Reception' in the AFC title game against the Oakland Raiders. Sadly the Steelers didn't get tot he Superbowl and the Dolphins went on to cap an unbeaten season. The Steel curtain had to wait till `74 for there first Supe Bowl win.

I don't know about that, my '90 American Standard says "John Cruz" and "Perez" all over the insides.

My '73 tele has the name Herb G stamped on the reverse of the neck, where it sits into the pocket.

I noticed a '72 custom on e bay a few months back, with the same name, stamped in the same place.

Under the neck on my Tele is stamped "stolen from Chandlers", on the body is stamped "sold cheap as the neck was missing".

Another strange thing... on the heel of my neck, was a sticker. With either 6 or 8 (I forget) numbered lines to write on. On the line #1 someone had written in blue pen "solis". Anyone have an idea what this is, maybe last name or a nickname ??

+1 on J. Torres but it's on a '77 P-bass neck. My early 90's MIM Tele has a small peice of masking tape on it with the name "Luis" handwritten on the underside. FWIW, my BSB affinity tele has USED stamped on the back of the headstock.

What would be great is if you took the neck or pickguard off an old guitar to find "hello" or something scrawled in there by one of the builders. =D

Maple Telecaster neck

I have a maple neck where the Fender logo was sanded off (Apparently the person thought an all black headstock was cool). Anyway, the date stamp on the heel of the neck reads "Nov 24 1993" and there is a name stamped but it'
s difficult to read it. The first name is definitely "O." but the last name is stamped over metal. The last two digits of a possible 5 letter last name are definitely "EL"...any clues??? It looks to me like it's a USA made neck, but I can't verify that.

I worked for an electrical assembly plant building circuit breaker boxes and a few of the employees wrote colorful greetings on the inside of the boxes.

They were summarily fired.

A lot of Japanese built cars have small gifts and lucky charms stashed in odd places.

Why do people have a problem with MOM guitars when the MIA ones are mostly built by people of Mexican descent as well :canofworms:

A wise man once told me that the only difference between MIA and MIM is that the first employee's name pronounced 'Maykel' and the latter pronounced 'Michael' :)
