I agree wholeheartedly. I also like Eminences in my '70s master volume Twins.

Meanest, snarliest thing I ever plugged into

... was a friend's narrow panel, high power Tweed twin. Truly a vicious beast. (But in a really good way...) ;-)

Aside from that, the BF/SF Twins w/JBLs are the ultimate CLEAN amp. If you were gonna play country in the 60s, you wanted a TELECASTER and a Twin, period. And as mentioned above, the aluminum trim ones (68/69) always sounded special. All MHO. :-) CS

P.S. Which one is Ashley? I could never tell.

    Mine!

It's a Dual Showman Reverb actually. Pre-master volume with a reissue Twin faceplate. I run it into a single closed back cab with an EVM-12L or a small Bassman style cab with two JBL K-120's. I'm going to have a combo cab built to hold it and a reconed EVM-15L. Unless someone wants to trade me for a D or K-130...

    Favorite Twin?

Well, my wife is a twin, so ...

Anyway, I had a Silver-Face Non-Master-Volume 1968 Twin Reverb with 85w RMS and 2 EV-SRO's that was just awesome - especially in a a big venue when you could turn it up to 5 or 6. (It wouldn't even hint of distorting until the volume went past seven, but I only did that once when I was playing outside on top of a hill!). But, on the other hand, the darn thing weighed 90 pounds!

I knew a guy who went out with twins for six months believing it was one woman before he worked out what was happening. If they'd been identical it would have taken him even longer....

I'll take the Ducati GT750 we have in Historic Racing Trim. Nothing like a 90 deg. v-twin.

    favorite twin

got a 73 master volume (but no pull boost) 100 watter, that sure sounds sweet. we played a bunch of block parties this summer and i got to actually crank it up for a change. twin's are awesome amps that are really unappreciated & undervalued. being an old fart, it just kills me when i see princetons going for more than twins. you old guys remember when the only thing in the band that was mic'ed was the vocals? LOL hmm, lets see, $600 for twelve watts or $500 for one hundred watts, i like to buy my cars by the pound (suburban and 2 trucks) and my amps by the watt (sftr & marshall jcm800)

    Th Coors Twins

Personally, I like the one on the left. Can you tell I've been watching too much baseball and beer ads?

Seriously though, I love the big clean tone from almost any BF or silverface Twin, esp. SF that have been BF modded, where you get alot of bang for the buck. My last one (below) was a BF modded SF Twin , and had a single Weber C15CA speaker.

I am partial to my '65 BFTR with EV's and 7581 power tubes. A customer has a '65 with one 15" in it that has played country gigs from here to Nashville and the Golden Spur in Vegas. It's a pretty good amp, too.
Oh, and Mik, I'll take the one of the right. hehehe

My apologies Mik. That reference was for GuitarJonz......I need more beer, but the one on the right still looks good to me.

Mik, I knew that I wanted to respond to your post in addition to Jonzie's. I had a '75 R90S....still miss it. I ride a Heritage Softtail nowadays. The Beemer went quicker and faster, handled better, stopped better, and was more comfortable. The Harley is more visceral....it has some compression, cam and carb mods with a gutted Thunderhead pipe. I have become fond of the deep growl and chuckle when I see a t-shirt with 'Loud pipes save lives' on the back. There has been more than one time that I have awakened a negligent driver with a twist on the throttle to let them know I am nearby. hahaha
My R90S was Daytona orange. That black and red bike you have is sharp.
