Wilkinson Bridge

I'm interested in anyone's experience using the Wilkinson compensated bridge:

I'm thinking about installing one on a partscaster with a neck humbucker pup.

The adjustable saddles are great, for those alone I will never regret my purchase because intonation was far less of a hassle with them.

(You have chosen the Wilkerson with the adjustable screw in the middle, that's the one I have, and its a great buy. I'm not a big fan of the saddles of the other Wilkerson bridge and sometimes it causes confusion in conversation.)

I would say that, short of dropping the big dollars on a Glendale bridge and saddle combo (well worth it when the time comes) that particular Wilkinson you've settled on is a very good way to go.

If what you are using is a "mini-humbucker" in a "vintage" style bridge, you would be better off spending less on a fender bridge from GC online and installing a set of brass cutting edge saddles from Glendale. Search "glendale" on this board and you will see what everyone thinks here. You will save alot of time too not having to "guess" the proper angle for the saddle adjustment.

If not a mini-humbucker, than make sure your bridge will accept a 3 saddle setup and is not just for 6 saddles - and leads to a whole 'nother converstaion.

I have an Affinity Telecaster that I am turning into a "relic" project and would like to get one of these Wilkinson vintage bridgeplate/saddle replacements. I want to know if this will fit onto this body. I know can already see that I will have to drill new holes but other than that is there anything else I have to watch out for?

Thanks

I've got a 2006 MIM Standard, and I'd like to install one of these bad boys on it. Will it fit?

this thread might help on the affinity thing

I have one on my thinline now and like it fine... and for 25.00 (including saddles) the price is RIGHT!

on my affinity I ended up keeping the existing bridge and ordering G&L saddles... I should get them friday... I'll let you know how it goes...

getbent,

Thanks for the link to the Affinity mod thread. That is exactly what I wanted to know. I can order the same bridge here in Canada for about $30.00 so I will be doing that in the near future. I have arleady relic'd the body. It was an off white colour to begin with and I hacked it up and used kiwi brown shoe polish on the body to give it an aged patina. The fret-board is nicely worn as well so when I install the new bridge I might just turn it into and Esquire seeing as I already have a Squire Standard tele.

Thanks again,

ogp

I also got a good deal on that older "fixed" comp saddles Wilkinson bridge not long ago for my #5 Tele I'm working on.

I liked that bridge so I ordered a set of Wilkinson tuners to go with it. Very nice stuff for the price. I received the tuners only yesterday and installed them on the neck in the evening.

The "adjustable" saddles bridge must be good stuff also. Maybe later...
