Johnny Cash Tribute Special - Vid. Clip

Did anybody catch this show? I taped it but haven't gotten around to watching it. I guess various artists were to perform his greatest hits in a tribute to him on TV.

Sounded like a good show to catch.

I managed to find this clip of Mr. Brad Paisley, performing Folsom Prison Blues. Makes sense, since i know he's been covering it at his concerts. This is a great clip. REAL nice clean twangy tele tones in this one (sounds to be heavy on the Stang Ray). Lots of good tele picking.

Enjoy,
Cheers,
Joel

That Link lead me nowhere so I cannot comment on how good or bad Brads version is, but the best version I have heard so far has been by Steve Earle...

Hmm, sorry. I guess it was a bad link. I think it should work now, for anybody else to try.

Steve Earl eh? Well, i'll bet he can't pick a tele like Brad can, ;)

Thanks for the heads up on the link,
Cheers,
Joel

I am also fond of Rev. Horton Heat's version of Folsom Prison Blues, and Ray Wylie Hubbard's cover in the middle of the live version of "Wanna Rock and Roll."

True, but Brad can't write songs like Steve can! ;-)

Anyways...checked out the link and his playing is impressive but this version leaves me ice-cold....when Johnny did it or Reverend Horton Heat or Steve Earle or Mike Ness I got goosepimples...this just didn't cut it for me...

Yeah, i understand. This version was a bit more of a classical, vintage way of playing it.

But i've heard brad cover this song at his concert and I also got goose-bumps from his playing on this one.
Check it out, this one is a clip taken actually from one of his concerts.

This was posted on this forum before, I thought it was awesome! A lot more upbeat!

I am discovering Brad Paisley every time I watch him play...

I love his sound.

Not my idea of the way Folsom should be done. The guitar playing is great but they both miss the point of the song. It is about a man spending the rest of his life in jail for murdering someone. I just don't think Brad captures the right emotion in the song.
