Top quality necks for sure. They don't IMO have quite the same refined shape as the CS Nocaster, but if you can't compare any difference would be purely academic. I have a nitro painted one, and the frets had the usually layer of lacquer over them, but after removing it the neck soon played in really nicely.

Ditto---they are a handful! I wondered when I first got mine,"What have I gotten myself into?" (LOL).Now it's like an old friend, and I love the feel.

I put one of those on my Dikkers Blackguard that I put together last year. Everybody that plays it comments on it. Nobody complains about it. The guitar has tone to die for. Some of that probably comes from the neck.

That is the truth. I've had one for some time (just sitting around) and have finally gotten it in place after adding an ever-so-slight 'U-ish V' at the first few frets. INCREDIBLE! I never want to put it down. The entire neck, top to bottom, is so comfortable to play and just feels "right," like its an extension of my hand. Now when I grab another guitar, though always a fullfilling experience, it's not quite the same. It'll spoil you; be prepared. I've quickly decided that I'm going to have to get a SRO-FAT just to put on a strat. Sweet!! The real treat is feeling the vibrations of the strings transfer through to your palm. A very round sound, and definite round feel. |

Wood is organic. Each piece is different and some mate together better than others. A quarter inch difference in a small section of the overall piece isn't going to consistently change the sound of that part unless we're talking about bracing soundboards. I'll take good fingers over quality pickups any day. |

The 50's Classic Esquire is what I would call a big neck. Its just 1/16" thinner at the nut than the Allparts one. At least thats how my Classic Esquire was I know they vary a little from guitar to guitar.

I have rather smallish hands myself, and I love those necks; but I was surprised that even my barely 13 y.o. daughter (with tiny hands, as can be expected), finds the TRO-FAT neck on my Strat very comfortable. I guess it has to do with supporting the palm in the right way, and not allowing the hand to press harder than it should. In fact I should easily suggest a fat(-ter) neck to a person just starting on the electric guitar, since this will allow him or her to develop better left hand dynamics and position. |

Let’s not revive the “tone” issue. I know we all have heard guitars that just sound wimpy… no “beef” when played, and others that sound quite complete, like you’re hearing everything that is vibrating in the pickup’s magnetic field. While this is all subjective, I just submit that for me, it seems those guitars with more wood in the neck tend to sound better. Now that’s just my opinion, if you gotta ‘nuther one… that’s cool… let’s just not argue about it. Ron Kirn

I spent yesterday afternoon setting up one of these necks (nitro) and installing it on my 52ri with Bardens to see if I was willing to keep it. Once I got my Nocaster relic, the 52 neck just didn't cut it for me. [If you get one of these Allparts necks, keep in mind that you need the curved-bottom type of nut blank, luckily I had one.) I sanded off as much of the finish on the back of the neck as I could with 300 grit sandpaper, I like it better that way, and I may sand off more of it later. (again trying to duplicate the feel of the Nocaster neck, which has either no finish left on the back of the neck or very little). I haven't played it amplified yet, so the report on any sonic differences that come through electrically will have to wait until tomorrow after tonight's band practice, but I can say that the profile of the Allparts neck is pretty similar to the one on the Nocaster, enough to feel "right" to my hands now that I've come to expect Tele necks to feel like Nocaster necks. Playing the guitar acoustically, I'd say that the new neck did change the sound a little, more balanced, slightly "sweeter" harmonics when chords are played, but that's subtle and there's no way to measure it objectively. Will report back later about the electrified sound. So far the Allparts neck looks like a winner. Note-my Nocaster has a 9.5 radi |
