Tried to make my Strat sound like a Tele. Did I succeed?
I tried my best to dial in a Telecaster tone on my Strat (we'll actually it's a G&L Legacy Special). Take a listen and tell me if I succeeded, or do I need to keep trying.
If you go the web page below, click on "Angels In The Ivy" if its not already playing. The tune starts off kinda slow, but there's more guitar work as it goes on. Strat attempts to impersonate Tele Thanks guys. |

Hey
Sounded like a drum machine in an 1980's elevator for the first half,.. Second half is very pleasant, and very much a strat sound - knopfler ish, with late Pink Floyd Bells... Think your playing style will define the sound as much as the guitar type tone... Nice production...

I'm new here, too (my 1st Tele in probably 15 years just arrived today)...but this git sounds remarkably like my 1989 MIJ '68 RI Stratocaster, which sounds about like any good late '60s-early 70's Strat, to my humble ear. This particular Strat's a maple board, has very clean tone w. low output original pups. And that's a sound I like alot...
My humble ear may also be lacking in tonal IQ and has whispered to me that it is Tele-deprived, so I apologize if it is fooling me. Regardless, it sure is a nice piece. |
