New and Old Pickups on My 1970 Tele...a Cool Sound

I am recently new here.....but I want to share my experiance with pickups and sound.
My Tele is an early 70's.
I had the original bridge pickup rewound and I replaced the neck pup with something much stronger and richer.
Lindy Fralin did the work and I am completely happy!
The neck pup is a "blues special" made by Lindy. Wow! Its cool!........He matched the set...phaseing and all.
I love my Tele on bridge setting or neck....as well as both at once.
For me the original neck pup was too weak.
I don't mean to offend any who are happy with the original pickups.
But, perhaps I may speak to someone with my taste and needs.
My original bridge pickup has stagered poles too....I like that better as well.
I would love positive input and comments.

Thanks,

Earjoy

You'll find all the positive comments and information...

...you could ever want, it's all here! And welcome! I've been here since last November/December, and it's all been good. Nice people = nice place! Look forward to seeing more from you! Can't comment myself on your setup, as I've no experience with any Tele except the one that brought me here, the little red one on the left there...

Welcome!

Good to hear that you seem to have "found your sound". I have no experience with Fralins myself, but they have a very good reputation around here.

Keep twangin' :)

Hey there,

I have a Fralin BS pups in my Tele.

The neck pup is very cool.

To me it sounds more like a very nice Strat neck pup that a trad Tele neck (which makes sense!)

Cheers,

Adam

Welcome Earjoy!

Boy...I am very offended with that weak neck pickup crack! Just kidding! As others have stated, I'm glad you were able to find your sound with Lindy's neck pup. I've never had the pleasure of trying his pickups, but quite a few tdpri'rs swear by em, so I know they are good un's. As a proud owner of a stock 71 Telecaster, I can attest to the spanky hot, smoking tone of the staggered pole bridge pup. I lucked out in the fact that the stock neck pickup is also a thing of beauty. I could play a whole gig on the neck pup alone and be satisfied. Again, welcome my friend. You will like it here. A lot of knowledgable, friendly people here who will go out of their way to help any way they can. Far and away the BEST place on the net. It all starts with the head honcho...webmaster Paul...and trickles down from there. Happy twanging!

Welcome! Isn't a good sounding, and good playing, Tele a thing of beauty? That's why we're all here- you're an official member of the club now. The next round's on you.

I've been lucky enough to own 2 '60s era Fender Tele bridge pickups that have been rewound by Lindy. Both of them are fantastic. One is now in Ohio, being twanged on by another TDPRIer, someone who can make the worst pickup sound great, so I can imagine what he sounds like with the '65 I sent him. The original bridge pickup in my '66 Tele was worked over by Lindy, and it's able to make the worst picker sound great- how does he do that? It's magic...play on!

Thumbs Up for Fralin here

I also have two Fralin rewound Fender bridge pickups - a '68 (in my H1) and a '72 (looking for a home). Both sound magical.

Haven't tried his neck pickups, but I'm thinking maybe I should.

~here here...NO FOOLIN!! I luv those too! Those early 70's pickups are some tone monsters and they are on Ebay for like 40 dollars. I had a pair that were dead and they got the fralin reverse treatment ...everything was great from there. They were hot too at about 7.8 / 8.0K!
