Keith Urban in new Vintage Guitar
Great interview, one of the best I've read. TONS of gear & guitar info.
BTW, John Mellencamp's "The Lonesone Jubilee" is highly responsible for his sound (of mixing rock & country), and he's playing all Marshalls right now...

I really like Keith Urbans guitarplaying and songwriting! I like Brad Paisley and other guitarplayers as well, but I really dig Urbans sound. Funny thing "The Lonesome Jubilee" has been an important album for me aswell, I bought when I started writing songs myself along with a bunch of other albums. It was however one of the albums that got alot of time on the cd-player and also the album that tuned me into Mellencamp. But now I would probably rank his "big daddy" record higher, than "The Lonesome Jubilee".

I really, really dug this interview as well - I thought he came across as a super cool, down to Earth guy. Especially when he said the thing about putting the Pizza Hut sticker on his guitar when he was a kid - that made me laugh out loud hahaha!
He just came across as being HIMSELF. Insanely honest and not caring what anyone else would think - even when he was talking about the music he liked...I don't think I've ever read any musician known for doing what he does talk about going through an "ABBA" phase. He just seemed super down to Earth and cool IMO...and that's coming from someone who only owns one of his albums - and it's The Ranch! By the way, we subscribe to Vintage Guitar and they're offering a "mail a free issue" to a friend thing right now - first person to send me a private message about it gets it if anyones interested? It's a free issue to you and doesn't cost me anything - they might send you advertisements from then on or something though, I don't know. But if you want it, shoot me a PM.

But the main part of the review is more what his influences are, his musical career and stuff like that.
