Need help choosing new Tele
Received the good news from the attorney that some money I had been expecting will actually be in my hot hands shortly.
It is time for another Tele(I have just the Squire Standard,2005 Indonesia job right now),and I like both the Aerodyne and Nashville Deluxe. My problem is deciding on which of those two to get. I am an intermediate level traditional country, amplified bluegrass and classic rock player who has also been leaning a little toward the music of WC Handy, lately, but hard rock is not my bag at all. Three pups (as used in the Nashville Tele )are not a necessity, but I am not totally convinced that basswood(as in the Aerodyne) is a good choice of body wood. On the other hand, the lovely combination of a twangy pup(love that twang!)at the bridge and a P-90(one of all time my favourite pups)together in one ax is pushing me strongly toward the Aerodyne. The Nashville appeals because of the body wood, sunburst color choice and because it is a reasonably priced, affordable step up from my Squire. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks, Malcolm

i have the sunbusrt nashville, it is a totally decent guitar with a great neck. actually, when i bought it one of the guitars the store guy convinced me to try was the aerodyne. i declined, as i wanted something more traditional but he said good things about it. it did look nice, too. To be honest for country you can't go wrong with the nashville. Nice tone, great versatility and lovely feel. There is a lot of scope for pickup changing because of the 'strat' options. i changed my neck p/u for a seymour duncan hot for a nicer jazz tone, which works a treat. I also wired it up so position 2 is now bridge and neck together, for that traditional tele tone. The bridge/middle works really nicely as well for that authentic albert lee 'quack'. The bridge and middle pickups are ok as well, they have a hotter sound than most tele units because they are fender tex-mex which are slightly overwound. nice, but for country i would like to eventually swap for a broadcaster or something
hey, try them both out but i can say 100% that you will not be dissapointed with the nashville. best of luck with your purchase |
