I own a '93 Tele. It's a '72ri with the bold '70's logo, natural sen (japanese) ash body. over the years I replaced the bridge pickup with an old Bill Lawrence and did the Keef thing to the neck with a SD alnico2 pro. She weighs half a ton, doesn't really twang but sustain for days.
Also owned a '62 ri made in 90-91. Traded her for an amp. I STILL regret that deal.
I'll take a Japanese Tele over any other off the rack Fender in a heartbeat.

I have one of these but I swapped the body for a midnight blue MIM and added a Bigsby.

My 2004 Antigua Telecaster is pretty darn nice

As is my Sunburst '51 Precision Bass that I picked up for an amazing price!

Oh, forgot my Fender CIJ TL-68 "Beck" Telecaster.
"Beck" as in the manga/anime about a rock band where the main character uses a guitar that looks a whole lot like a '68 Telecaster. They never specify whether it was a real one, a reissue or just something that looks similar. I would imagine it's a reissue. In any case, they did a special version of this reissue with the manga's/anime's logo on the back of the headstock.

It is a great guitar also!

Ta - it's a Japan domestic model, neck is brilliant, bridge pickup also great. I love it to bits.
