I still have my now fairly nicked up '94 MIJ sunburst JD. Over time it's picked up a Hip-Shot D tuner, Barden pickups and a Barden bridge. I also had the 5-way switch replaced w/ a 4-way (with the series/parallel mod) when it died. It's still one of my workhorse guitars.

Made in Japan Telecasters! Reply to Thread

I love the MIJ teles especially the early 1985 and 1986 models. I have several of them and I have pics in my gallery on this forum for viewing. I've owned several USA reissues and in my opinion the sound and feel of my Japan teles were superior to my American ones.

jazzguitar........... as an owner of let's just say more than one of the MIJ rosewood Telecasters I'd really like to see a picture of the butt end of yours showing the end grain.

I had an '88 or '89 MIJ Tele. Somebody had stripped it to bare wood and clear coated it in poly. There were burn marks from the attempts to sand it.

It was a very cool guitar, played and sounded great. The only thing I did was put a compensated brass 3 barrel bridge (brand name forgotten, might have been Callahan).

Sold it in a massive gear dump a couple years ago. Hope it is making somebody happy now.

The TL55 is a nice model...this is a "modern MIJ", meaning a 2008 model, not pre 1997.

How do you like that 72 CIJ in blonde? I've been thinking about getting one. I've heard that the humbucker is not that good.
