Rice Custom Tele in da house
Just came in a while ago and I've just got my first glance. Wow! The flame on this neck freakin explodes.
Some free association -> Light weight. The visual of the grain on the wood comes right at ya. Some light relic'ing on the hardware done just right and tastefully. Neck is chunky. Action is perfect. Plugged in...P-90 sounds warm and fat...the Duncan Broadcaster is thick sounding and aggressive as well. Really won't get to put it through all it's paces and through all of my rig variables until this weekend, but first impression is...well, I'm overwhelmed. Like a kid a on Christmas all over again. I know I'm repeating myself, but I really can't say enough how much I appreciate Paul & the TDPRI and the guys at Rice Custom guitars for this. Thank you very much!

Congratulations! What a lucky guy! I visited the Rices last night, and it is quite a thrill to see every new piece. They have a serious mojo factory happening over there. Every time I touch one of their guitar's necks, I feel like it is a sign that I have found my soulmate. Dangerous stuff! ;--)

Congratulations . You will never look at guitars the way you did before.
You are holding in your hands what is essentially a 'masterbuilt' instrument. The whole production line is Rich and Chris. It just doesn't get any better. My Rice Esq. is next to the bed. Just an amazing instrument and ya, the neck is outstanding! If it doesn't meet your needs or expectations...it'll last about an hour in the classifieds! Just kidding. I'd be very suprised if it doesn't become the star in any Tele rotation! Again, congratulations on the win and enjoy!

Just a little follow up now that I'v ehad the Rice custom for a couple of weeks and have had a chance to play it a lot.
Fact is, I can't put it down...and I haven't picked up any of my other electrics since it came in. What a fantastic Tele this is! I had some reservations initially about the fat neck...I have small hands and have always found a slim-C shape the most comfortable. But this neck feels great...like an old pair of shoes. Really no adjustment. Just a great feeling, great playing neck. The tone is fat on both pickups. True P-90 tone from the neck. And I have a reborn respect for the SD Broadcaster in the bridge. I would urge anyone to try one of these before spending double on a boutique pickup. Sounds great through every amp I've played it through....not always the case with some guitars. Of course the visual on the guitar is what makes such an impression. Particularly on the neck where the flame takes on so many different characteristics depending on the light and angle. If you're considering getting a Rice guitar, you should do it. Thanks once again, Rice Custom Guitars for donating this Tele to the drawing. Resting in the office: ![]() and yet another middle aged white guy playing the blues...I'm actually happier in the picture than I look...I just wasn't ready for the flash (I'm not that photogenic anyway) -> ![]() Some day soon I'll be set up to record digitally and maybe I'll post some sound clips....but trust me, this guitar sounds great.

That guitar looks good with the Pro Reverb (one of my favorite amps). Your Les Paul and teles look jealous.
![]() Definately post some sound clips, I love hearing what other people do with our guitars (well, I guess it's your guitar now, not ours...but anyways). Congratualtions.

Once again, a hearty congrats. You do have a truly special guitar in your hands.
The arrival of a Rice Custom does tend to end with quite a few guitars being exiled to their cases while those big ole' fat necks on which ya can feel the grain really do spoil ya.

Bruce, can I use your pics in the guitar's gallery on the RCG website?

The flame on that neck is outrageously beautiful!
