Master Builder Yuriy Shishkov website

I just found a website dedicated to Fender master builder Yuriy Shishkov.
Most of the text is in Russian, but it has some amazing pictures of his creations including his "TeleStrat" and a John5 Tele with 3 Wide Range humbuckers!

All good stuff, have a look.

Here it is.

Thanks for sharing that site. Didn't see this particular Yuriy Shishkov Tele-Strat there so I show it here.

Thanks!
Been to the site before but forgot to bookmark it...and whilst some of his guitars are droolworthy, others are far less impressive like this example here: http://www.shishkovguitars.ru/img/nocaster-img_1399.jpg
What an ugly relic job....

Russian Fenders

To answer the question ...
The Russian series were made by request from Fender in Russia .. few guitars were made to be sold there ... one pictured above is one of them. Most of the Fender guitars in Russia come from Fender Japan, so these custom shop from Shishkov are the only Americans there. Except of course the cheaper models from Samash / Guitar center bought in US and travelling there.
The text on the website is mostly the stories behind making of the guitars .. etc. When I find some time, I will translate it for this forum.
As the quick snapshot ...The story behind Buddy Guy guitar:
When doing a artist model, specifically for the artist of such standing, the Fender has a policy when builder is working on two guitars at the same time. Two identical pieces are being built at the same time. One makes it all the way to the artist and another one completely finished but not painted is sitting in the Master's shop just in case, if the artist rejects the one given to him. (So far in the Fender history this has never happened). So, when Yuriy Shishkov made a blue polka-dot tele for Buddy Guy, after it was accepted, the exact copy of it, painted blue with NO polka dots, went out to be sold in Russia. !!!
