Personally, I wish Fender had created some new ideas and continued the evolution rather than "re-invent" his old ones. Telecaster -> Stratocaster -> Jazzmaster -> Jaguar -> ???
Do a little research on G&L. They did create some new ideas ............ they didn't sell and were discontinued. Here's an example ......... the Interceptor.

..........

Here's another ................. the G-200

Oh, now I guess it's my time to eat some crow. Definately not in the same vein though, Single coils are the one of the greatest charms of Fender's in my opinion.

If by "like" you mean "Do you own a bunch of them, plus a couple of G&L basses?" - Chris S.

Actually, I don't own a G&L bass. But I do own 7 ASATs. I find them well made and very comfortable in my hands. And I like the MFD pups.

I have a gorgeous semi-hollow Bluesboy that I love. Plays great, has a real distinctive tone. More bite than twang in the bridge.

I played a Legend recently (Strat type)...almost bought it on the spot. I think G&L's are exceptionally well made, well playing instruments.

from those pics it is self evident that Leo ran out of 'bright' ideas.. not to worry, if i designed the Telecaster and obvioulsy ALL of the other fender guitars then i doubt i'd be too put down that my newly desinged 'G&L interceptor' was'nt a success. G-200 looks like a cheap LP copy, with a radicall double cuta-way

A further lefty perspective (hi Rick W):

My group of 3-bolt G&L's are better instruments (components, assembly and finish) than any comparable stock lefty Fenders over the last 15 years, and all options and colors and models are available on lefty models from G&L. Is there a lefty Fender Tele-shape with a trem, or a middle pickup, or neck radius options? You can't even get a lefty Bigsby on a Fender. I do replace all of the MFD's with alnico Duncan's, but aftermarket pickup changes are the norm on this board.

I love my ASAT Classics. Teles are cool too, I especially like that creaky noise they make when you grab the headstock with your left hand and pull up while at the same time pushing down on the upper bout to get the neck heel to sit squarely in the pocket!!! :=) Eeeeeasy fellas just 'a kiddin'.

Hehe, I actually know the sound your talking about. Microphonic pickups and loose neck joint, oh yeah, gotta love it!

Perhaps one day you'll find "the One".
I've owned several models the ASAT Special has been with me since May of 2003.

Fuzzy loves G&L guitars and would trade the whole tele shack just to sit a spell and drink a carrot juice with Leo, and rem-in-iss 'bout the good ole days of MusicMan and G&L..

Actually I think a direct translation would get the post pulled in a heartbeat. Apparently he's not fond of G&L's, Leo post 1965, and he mentioned something about socking a duck, or ducking a sock or....

I voted no.

I've only played two. The first sounded great, can't remember which model.

The second, a mahogany tele jr style, didnt care for the pickups at all.

Hated the dewclaw on the headstocks of both. What the heck were they thinking?

Dunno- best to ask the source as it's a little "fuzzy" to me too.

Perhaps a reference to Leo's skin color due to ingestion of large quantities of something containing carrotine (sp?), or perhaps a spray on tan?
