Photos of Rice Custom Guitars Giveaway Prize

Ok, they aren't great, but here are some photos of the Rice Custom Guitars TDPRI Fundraiser/Giveaway Grand Prize.

I played this thing for about an hour and its a monster! That bridge pickup is really strong and meaty. And the P-90 is sweet as pie. Put the selector in the middle and you've got the best of both worlds.

If you like the looks of "wood" you're going to love this guitar. It's a 100 proof grain machine. And the neck is super thick and chunky.

Ok, I'll hush up and post the photos now:

If the necks look kind of "white" you should blame the photographer. They don't look that way in real life.

Are you going to pack them in separate boxes when you ship them to me? What kind of wood is that? Looks kind of oaky. Beautiful guitar, Mr. Rice.

Beautiful! I love the grain on that body. And a P-90 in the neck? Very cool! I don't have a P-90 guitar (yet).

I like the neck on that Rice Tele. Some of the pics I've seen of the headstock are real nice.

A little teaser

One of the things I liked about this neck is that the figuring "moves"... One angle it looks very plain, and then another angle lets it "pop"...

Sometimes when the finish goes on flame maple, it sort of "locks" the movement into one place. This piece is constantly changing, depending on the angle you see it from. I sat here moving it around, just staring at it.

My one Warmoth Strat neck with the "Clapton" profile is a lot like that. I had to move around to get the camera at just the right angle to show the stripes.

I imagine that I would have needed to get the right kind of finish on it to make it stand out like on this TDPRI Tele neck. It's like the Captain Beyond cover.

I could look at that neck for a long time and feel piece, joy and harmony enter my heart.. nah, I couldn't. I'd be too damn busy playing the heck out of this beauty!

Gosh, I don't know if I could play such a pretty guitar!

But I reckon I'd figure out a way to, somehow.

I can attest firsthand, that as beautiful as they look, pictures do not do justice to those Rice teles. Someone will be a lucky dude.
