Here are some youtube clips of my band at this year's Guitarbeque in Asbury Park NJ from 7/9/06. Tele through Hot Rod Deville with no effects or pedals.

Cool stuff! Thx for posting it! :-) I really like the 2nd tune, "Custer's 2nd to Last Stand." Is that an original?

Really a shame about all the wind noise on the mic, but still... nice playing. I'd love to hear more. :-) CS

Thanks

these are all songs I wrote performed at an outdoor event this past summer. Audio and video are poor. Wind noise gets better on other songs. Other songs feature my 1934 Rickenbacker frypan lap steel and my early 50's Gibson lap steel. Wish I knew how to copy/paste all songs at once but here you go.

Nice Mark, great playing!! And the band as well. Shame about the noise.

A side note which has nothing to do with your outstanding performance.

I played at the Maine music festival a couple of years ago and wore shorts to the gig. Now every time I see that clip on TV I wanna puke. I won't do that again.

Seriously though great job and nice transitions between the clean and the distortion on your Tele. Smooth as silk.

Do you guys have anything less noisy in the studio you can share?

playlist tab

Sorry, new to youtube. Apparently, after accessing one of the videos you simply click on "more from this uses" or "playlist" tab on the middle right to see them all. Sorry about the legs. I am happy, though, everytime I see my Jaco T shirt. Some of these songs are from my self released CD "American Home Cooking" in 97 with a new one on the way featuring Victor Wooten on bass and Rod Morgenstien on drums.

Marc, that's real nice! And I love that frypan, outstanding! What did you have it tuned to for those tunes? (I have a ricky B string-through panda that I've been really getting into these days!)

lap steel tuning

It's a beautiful instrument, Very lucky to have. On that guitar I took the traditional C6 tuning (C-E-G-A-C- E) and made the low C a C# instead. Great for jazzier stuff. The Gibson on Labor Day is nashville tuning of G-B-D-G-B-D.

I tried that low C# C6 tuning for a while, but couldn't get the hang of it, although having a diminished triad was very useful. Right now, my lap steel is tuned B11 (B D# F# A C# E), which puts the diminished triad in a more useful place for me.

CD's

Don't know if this is the right place to post and I appologize to the forum if it isn't but anyone interested in buying my 97 release "American Home Cooking" or a pre mastered/artwork-less CD of my new stuff featuring Victor Wooten and Rod Morgenstein feel free to contact me via email here or through my website WWW.marcmuller.com. It's independently released which means it's in boxes in my closet. Good music cheap. Thanks, Marc.

Shania Twain

Yes, used to be my gig. I wish I could make a living doing my what-ever-it-is kind of music, but you know how it goes. The Buddy System post I think just meant he liked, which is good. I wrote that after hearing Buddy Miller play. He's VERY good. Thanks for listening.

Topsky studio version

I just added a rough mix of a song from new CD with Victor Wooten and Rod Morgenstein at the bottom of my homepage, www.marcmuller.com, recorded here at my house. I'm using my 68 tele thinline through a pro junior. More to come. thanks for listening

Very nice stuff. Would love to hear your band if ever in the Baltimore area.

PS: I feel sorry for you having to stand behind Shania Twain on stage night after night...NOT!

Actually, I played mostly pedal steel so I had to SIT behind her (behind). Yes, good gig.

One of my favorite Tele players of all time. Highly underrated. This man, along with Ed Bickert, personisfied Jazz on a tele. The beautiful Ted Green.

I absolutely agree Ed - he even manages to erase the boundaries between Bach and jazz - marvellous !

I will also take any opportunity to link to this rendition of Errol Garner's "Misty", one of the most beautiful jazz ballads of all time : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZekMi7u-D9U

Even if Roy wasn't actually a jazz player, he shure mastered the genre !
