albert lowe jr. - muscle shoals...

here's another player/muscle shoals guy i always kinda knew about but had always kinda overlooked like i did for a long time with eddie hinton and travis wammack... people think muscle shoals and immedeatly say jimmy johnson and tommy cogbill ( yes, he mainly played bass but did quite a bit of lead work too... ) and the more informed of course bobby womack who's on a ton of muscle shoals and american recordings... largely uncredited too...

anyway; albert lowe jr.... i was never really sure what was distinctly him until i got this otherwise not that great soul record sweet southern soul by lou johnson that's somewhat overrated by soul fanatics because of it's rarity and that's kinda textbook later 60s muscle shoals and don't get me wrong it's a good record, but boy can ALBERT LOWE JR. play...

and man, he's got his own style too... he floats somewhere between the late great eddie hinton and duane allman's session work... the playing is KILLER... kinda traditional like eddie but stepping outside of the box a little bit more like duane allman did... just thought i'd share this... i don't get excited about much anymore but the guitar playing on this record knocked me out...

tj
