Replacing switch in '72 Tele Custom RI

A buddy wants me to replace the non-working switch on his 72 tele custom ri, and I bought a cheap LP switch like this one:

When I opened it up, however, I noticed that it has a right-angle switch like this:

Do you guys think I should take the first switch back and get a right-angle, or does it matter?

As long as the lead wires are the correct length and your friend doesn't care, why not?

That switch, if I'm not mistaken, is shaped like that to fit an SG type guitar that has a thiner body than say a LessPaul, but functions in the exact same manor.
Like Mike D. says, why not use it if it works? Looks better built than the first switch IMO.
