A Bit of an Ebay Scam?

I didn't realize that the going price for a MIJ '62RI Tele is $1200.

I could understand if it were an AV'62RI but this is some kind of MIJ inflation. I did contact the seller and he verified that is was Made In Japan, but that is all he would tell me.

I know a seller can ask whatever price he thinks he can get, but this one just seems a bit shady. It is a nice looking MIJ and seems in good shape, but a BIN for $1200????

"Scam" might be a bit strong since the only thing you don't approve of is his asking price. A scam is when someone tries to defraud you. Which is not what this guy seems to be doing.

He can ask $10,000 and if someone is willing to pay that, then its OK.

Nahh, not a scam, just a hopeful seller... besides, it comes with an older 70's case...

The seller may be pretty shrewd operater. He puts the $1200 BIN price in there so some might think it's worth that much. He says very little about it. The starting price was $1. At the time of this post, all three bidders had bid over $800.

I agree with you, but that is why I used the term "bit of a scam" with a ?.

I just think he/she is being a bit deceptive, in not outrightly stating the country of origin. I agree it is his/her right to try to get whatever price he/she wants but I think I would respect him/her more if he/she stated the country of origin and placed the BIN at $1200.

BTW...the new front page is terrific. Thanks for the great work on it.
