Anybody here play a Nashville Deluxe model Tele?

Not to be confused with the Nashville Power Tele,by the way.
If so,how do you like it?I want to move up from my Squire Standard but the American Teles tend to be a bit outside my hobbyist budget price range.
Thanks,
Malcolm

If you are referring to the MIM Nashville Deluxe, I have one (I think a 2004 with CAR, alder body, maple neck). It's been a pretty solid instrument, sounds decent and the finish was good. The fret edges were a little rough vs. my American Standard Tele (could be addressed easily enough) and the low E tuning Key did freeze up on a couple of occasions (maybe a loose metal shard in the gear - I haven't opened it up). Other than that no problems.

I've never really played Squires so I can't compare. I have considered changing the pickups to Bill Lawrence's like I have in my American Standard Tele - can't beat the price, quietness and tone for "boutique" pickups at his prices. It just takes a bit of a wait depending on what batches of pickups they are working on when you order. I might also switch the tuning keys to locking tuners like I have on most of my other guitars - got used to them. Maybe I'd change the 5-way switch to give me the bridge / neck pu combination in the middle position. I'll make those changes if I play it more often in the future or have the threat of an overseas gig come up again. It was cheap enough on trade that I'd rather loose or damage it on a flight than one of my primary axes.

If you can find one a good price it I think it should last you a while. I think the quality is pretty decent.

The MIM Deluxes are some of the best buys for Fenders right now. The TexMex pickups are not traditional in sound but are certainly usable. The vintage bridge plate took a little getting used to, but I miss it on my other gits now. Plus you get some pretend Strat sounds.

The MIM Nashville is a solid, decent instrument as delivered and a downright excellent platform for mods -- mine is thoroughly tricked out after a few years (pickups, bridge, tone control and switching circuits, pickguard, etc.), but it was a fine guitar from the gitgo, especially for the price.

I have a 2006 Nashville Tele Deluxe MIM. I posted piccies in my gallery. It's an excellent tele MIM. Blindfolded, difficult to tell which is American Tele and MIM. Satisfied with it's features. I had to tighten the input jack. A bit loose when I got it. Good investment. A good step up from a Squier Tele but then...Squier Teles are getting pretty good. See my gallery for reference. Thank you.

I love my Nashville Tele . I had to search and try a few out till I found one with the fit and finish I like . But that said I've had no troubles and love it. great neck !!!! I also rewired the the pickup selector to get the standard bridge/neck pickup combination.

I bought one several months ago, actually it was my first MIM tele. The neck is very nice, the C.A.R finish is really done well. The only minus's are the loose jack assembly and the pick guard needs another screw cause' it's warped a bit near the upper bout near the neck. But I understand that it is a common problem with this model. Other wise it's a very nice guitar. The tone is very good, I really like the pick up combo's you can get from it with the 5 way. I got mine gently used at a very good price...so I jumped on it with no regrets.

Here's mine!

'01 MIM Nashville Oly White body with original pots, control plate and jack (with wires). Purchased new from Sam Ash in Huntington. SD Antiquity I flatpole bridge and '54 neck pups, replacement pg, Bigsby w/plate and Jazzmaster bridge, AllParts dome knobs, 4-way switch, Dakaware tip (paid $4.00 for it) with a '99 MIM Nashville maple neck from eBay and replacement vintage tuners (none on the neck when I got it). The original rosewood neck is on my other (red) tele. The necks on the Nashvilles are the thing for me. 9 and 1/2 inch radius with 21 frets, 43mm width at the nut and medium jumbos. Had the frets on both necks leveled and polished, they're the perfect size for my kinda short but pudgy fingers. I found out through trial and error what it was I was looking for. I already had a Strat, ('86 AS) and as hard as I tried I just couldn't love the pseudo-Strat positions with the original pickups and 5-way switch. So I started listening to recordings and hanging out here and 5 years later, it's done (for now). And I've finally learned how to post pictures of it. What fun!

Couldn't agree more with this. I'm far from a "mod" guy, but this guitar was something even I could work with... though I just recently had a pro check the electronics & set it up properly. Love it!

Lots of changes here to the pups (Lollar P90/neck & HD S90/bridge), switch, bridge, saddles, etc..

First,thanks to all who replied.Another question,please....?

Without modifying or changing the original pups or other electronics in any way,can I get a lot of traditional Tele twang from this baby?

I am a twang freak,big time.

If a pup change is required that is not necessarily a problem, but I do love twang and I thought the stock pups already had lots of it. Am I wrong in that?
Thanks,
Malcolm

I have a similar warp(slight) in my Squire Standard Tele pickguard.Excuse my ignorance, but what does "CAR" stand for when referring to a guitar's finish?
Thanks,
Malcolm

Those stock pups DEFINITELY bring the twang. With 3 pups & switching options you also have a nice range of tones. I've already got a Highway 1 for my twang and planned to mod my Nash even before buying it, but I was pleasantly surprised by the stock pups.

Here's my '01, its my #1... well ok now its more like my #1.5 but anyways here it is:

Took out the middle pickup, and put in two pickups that I wound in the neck and bridge, and put a callaham bridge on it (not pictured), and put locking tuners on it... but now I regret it and I'm thinking of changing them back with a conversion kit. That guitar opened for a lot of big name artists, and has a lot of sentimental value. Honestly that (at the time) $425 guitar is worth a million to me- I'll never sell it.
