Hello
Hello, I am a new member. I've enjoyed reading your opinions in the past, and look forward to being part of this group.
I posted a picture of two of my favorite guitars under the Squire section. The Antique Burst Fat Tele, and a Quilt Top Squire Strat. I have some nicer more expensive guitars; but these two, for some reason, are really special. All stock, and they both sound GREAT. Both required a set up and some fret dressing when I purchased them, but what to you expect for $199.00 each. After a night of tinkering with them, I was really, really shocked at how nice they both played and sounded. I had intended on upgrading hardware, and pick-ups, but have decided to leave them both alone. I am also pleased that the Tele has a thicker wider neck than most Squires. It feels great! Anyway, I'm sure I will have some questions in the future and I look forward to your input. 1977CJ5 Last edited by 1977CJ5; August 16th, 2006 at 11:06 PM. |

Hello and a warm welcome from England !
My only Telecaster is a 1986 Butterscotch Squier. I recently put on a black pickguard and 3 brass saddle bridge to make it more 'retro' looking and sounding. I have in the past also replaced the stock pickups. I does however feel and play better than many, many other 'real' Fender Tele's I have tried and of all my four guitars ( the other three being much more expensive ) - this is the one I get most offers to buy, and music buddies just clamber over the others to play this one ! She is just so approachable and friendly to pick up and play. I call her 'Amy' an outspoken, sassy and cuddlesome blonde ! Viva la Squiers !

when i was a young man (late '60s, early '70s), i would have thought i'd died and gone to heaven if i could have bought a playable Fender-built guitar and doesn't-suck-too-bad amp for that day's equivalent of $200. i think the Squier line is the best thing Fender has going now to keep people playing electric guitar. functional and eminently improveable!
