i never felt entirely enthusiastic about the clash's version of that song - i think i would have prefered another reggae cover on the reissue of the 1st album. BUT, that clip really captured strummer's dedication and outlaw honesty in a way that doesn't come across on the studio version (IMHO). that was a pretty impressive performance - i really wish i'd had a chance to see him live.

on a side note - anyone know what kind of guitar the other guitarist was playing? looked a bit like a danelectro to me, but i couldn't tell for sure.

that other guitar appears to be a double cut away version of the Gretsch Duo Jet. That is assuming that you are talking about the guitar with the bigsby tremelo.

If you scroll down the page a bit there is White Man from the same gig. And the guy who played the Gretsch in "I Fought.." is playing the bass, he changes basses in the middle of the song. Starts of with brownish bass with a Hofner-life headstock and towards the end of the songs ends up with a P-Bass. If memory serves me right his name is Martin Slattery.
