So, is it a '52 RI with an added bucker or what? I guess Bobby's gone full circle. I have a picture from about 1968 with Weir and a Tele from around '60 give or take a couple of years.
Interesting review. It kind of sums up my feelings about the current band and why I passed on the shows. I do think Joan Osborne is a good choice for a vocalist though I thought it was a left field decision when I first heard it. I think Weir is looking more like his early hero, Jorma, then Jerry. I'm glad that they're moving forward as a band again. But something intangable went with Jerry when he checked out. And that's gone for good. |

Total Tele
I saw The Dead at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center last month. Bobby started the night with the Tele, used it all during the first set, came out for the second set with some space-age looking white guitar, switched to the Tele halfway through the first song, and stuck with it for the rest of the night.
It's got everything ya need and nothin' ya don't! |
