The new Vince Cunetto guitars...

"...new guitars by Vince Cunetto. Yes the guy who made the Original Relic guitars for Fender. Slightly tele like in appearance. But with the powerful tone of a Gibson or 60s' Epiphone."

mmmmmm, I'm not quite sure -but there IS mojo there! I generally dig the traditional styles myself ...and this is a cool mix of old and new. GREAT looking paint!

Not for me

If he made one that looked like a '52 maybe. Not those.

Have to have an ashtray, too. No plates for me.

It's a slick guitar

I think most old tele and strat players will feel there is something "wrong" with it. There is not, of course, our perception is just caught off guard by the daring mix of tele and strat shapes. Especially on the pickguard. It is just a matter of habit.

We might accept it more easily if it had a more traditional strat guard. Like Warmoth has done before.

But spend some time with it and I am sure the look will grow on you. Just try not to think of it as a freak telecaster, or strat, but as a design in its own right. Now here is a tough excercise: Try and imagine the was no Teles or Strats at all, only other guitars, and someone introduced this one. Would you have thought it was cool? Or say it had looked like this for 50 years...

Wonder if they will come with double binding. I hope not, cause I cannot afford another guitar.

Geir :)

Very nice. A good marriage of strat and tele, and the minihums really top off the package nicely. I'd definately check it out.

Ya know what looks funny?....

I think the angled pickguard at the read...where he tried to follow the angle of the bridge pickup. Something about that messes up the look. Maybe if he stuck with a more traditional strat guard shape it wouldn't seem so odd.

The finish on the wood looks great...very rich.

I kinda dig it, but kinda don't. It's not that I'm a traditionalist so much as it just doesn't strike me as being all that, well, striking.

The quote about it sounding like a 60s Gibson or Epi makes me shake my head a bit. Humbucker teles or strats sound like big, fat teles and strats, not at all like Gibsons.

I'd be inclined to give it a try

if I could find one to try. I've got a Cunetto relic and it's a great guitar. He seems to be a top-notch craftsman. That 'burst is quite beautiful.

Working on the Web Site and Building Guitars....

Hi folks...

It was interesting to read the comments here. Thanks to all those who like the design, and I think I could change a few of the negative perceptions by putting one in your hands! It has very been encouraging that every player who's tried one doesn't want to give it back. We've also had great response from some very visible working artists, and the Vinetto is already out there on one of this summer's major tours. (I'll be discrete.)

We're busy making guitars and getting them out there. I'm also in the process of getting the web site up and running so y'all can check out specs, pics, etc. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to e-mail me at vinetto@aol.com for more information.

Take care,
Vince Cunetto

I'd strum it. I really like mini-buckers but don't get the chance to play with them too much.

GREAT GUITAR!

I really like oddball guitars, and an oddball axe that looks and sounds like a tele but can also get some other sounds is a great idea.
Love the looks too...

Hey!

Who you callin' "oddball", Fanis???

OK, you know I'm joking . Actually, that's a great compliment. To me it means that I've done what I set out to do... merge a couple of very classic designs and features to keep the instrument familiar and comfortable to a player, but do it in a way that seems fresh and different enough... even to the point of being "oddball".

Thanks Nick!

To me, the guitar is reminscent of old epi or hagstrom solid bodies crossed with a tele. The pickup selection is probably a good choice because so many people seem to be enamoured with those minibuckers.

No one can tell how well a guitar sounds or plays by looking at a picture.

I'd try one. The only thing I'm really not crazy about is the headstock shape, but I'm funny that way. My brother and I have been building/designing guitars for quite awhile now, and we can't decide on a headstock to save our lives. I'd like to know how well the output levels balance between the mini-hums and the single coil, that would definitely influence my decision to purchase one.

Hey Vince, how about a rear-rout version with no pickgaurd?
