Thanks Newbie
This is a great place to hang with a lot of knowledgable folks.
By the way, I was very flattered that the guitar at the top of the thread was purchased shortly after those pics were taken by a very popular young man who's a great player, a fan of the greats AND a huge hit with all the young women (you should see the crowds at his shows!). He uses it on a couple of tunes in his set. Vince |

Vince, how do the minibuckers differ in function?
Just curious as to what the middle minibucker contributes.
Purple Tele (see avatar) only has one minibucker (and an SD Broadcaster in the bridge) but wired into a five position switch and 70K resistors to give n, n+1/2b, n+b, 1/2n+b, b. I use n+1/2b a lot. A bit of Broadcaster seems to add clarity to the minibucker. RN |

Well normally...
As soon as I see anything that tries to look like a Tele, my barriers go up and I think NO, but this one immediately attracted itself to me. I really can't say exactly why but I honestly think this has the "X" factor.
Now if only I could try it out here !! The more I look at it, the more I am falling in love with it, I wouldn't change a single thing about it. I want one....and I want it now !!

Different is good!
Different is good!
I like the ˝" jack socket replacing the normal tele cup, it allows the body outline to curve naturally without the usual telecaster 'flat' at the socket. I also love the look of the mini humbuckers -especially since they're closed covers without the pole pieces. If it were mine, I'd ditch the 'SD' logo covers and replace them with a plain ones and I'd mount the humb's on the body with no screws on the pickguard (if it were possible) to give a bit of the trad tele neck pu look.

Thanks for the comments
I'd love to answer each and every question here, but the forum isn't the place to get too commercial. E-mail me at vince@vinettoguitars.com and I'll relpy personally.
Also, I have a temporary web site up. It's pretty limited right now, but if you let your cursor rest over the knobs, bridge, pickups, etc... a text box pops up to tell you a little about them. www.vinettoguitars.com Thanks folks, Vince |

It would work for me
I like the blend of two models and I have long wanted a tele with strat controls where the volume is closer to the bridge .(short pinky syndrome. ) and I can change pickups with a sweep of my hand.
I am with Lance on the angle of the pickguard above the bridge. My eye wants to see it follow up straight before the cut over. Beautiful guitar! either way. Have any finished guitars in blonde and rosewood neck you could post a pic of? LarryR |

A nice looking guitar indeed.
I hope this does not sound disrespectful. The headstock design does not agree with me. The widest part being a little higher than the "traditional" design gives me the mid-heavy (or "fat belly") impression. This is right where the "V" is in the logo.

Many of yew haff been roun fer a spell and some of yew may member the late 50s and 60s. I sure dew.
This guitar reminds me of the Teisco and many other MIJ guitars of that era where they tried hard tew make a guitar look like a Fender of some sort and yet missed the mark by a long shot becuse of the quality.
Now such is not the case with this guitar because quality leaks all over this well made axe. None the less it still looks like the Teiscos and ones I had Lam Hoa in Viet Nam make fer me back durin the war.
I have a few of these fun guitars roun the TELE-Shack and some are quite well made but -------------worthless.
I commend Vince fer his gutz in building this guitar and wish him well but feel I muss type these words in response tew this thread.
Looks like quality which I'm sure it is but is the market there fer another Fender copy? Sin-seer-lee; ![]() Anyone knead a Fender-like guitar? HEE! HEE!

Not trying to start anything...
But Vince didn't "make" the original relics, the Fender CS did. Vince's shop did the relic-ing.
At least that's the way I heard it from both Vince & Mike Eldred elsewhere. It's a little misleading. That said, this is no knock on Vince, that's a nice-looking guitar which no doubt totally rawks. I'm suprised it's not relic-ed! :D

That was a quote picked up from somebody else's web site
Hey Fuzz, it's no wonder my guitars remind you of the stuff you used to have Lam Hao build for you back in Nam. I apprenticed under him for several years and learned everything I know about guitar design and building from watching him craft the fine instruments that got tossed in GI's duffle bags. In fact, not too many people know this, but the whole Relic concept was actually started back in '69 by a sailor from Cleveland, who got back to the states upon finishing up his tour, took his Lah Hao Strat from his dufflebag and realized it had some mojo it didn't have when he left Viet Nam. He patented the concept and held it until just the right time when the vintage market was right, then sold his patent to Fender. Who knew!!! Relic secrets revealed! 8)
Just to be clear, the quote at the top of the thread wasn't from me. It was taken from somebody's web site. Detuned is correct in that me and my guys did not "make" the Relics. We only did the stuff that made them Relics. |
