Depends on the guitar, etc
I've got Blues Specials in my CIJ '52RI and I love them. What kind of sound are you looking for? What wood is your Tele made of?
I got the Blues Specials because my guitar is lightweight Ash and is very snappy, it really went to "ice pick" with the stock Texas Specials. I like weak pickups, but the "Vintage" ones were too bright. The Blues Specials, in my guitar, are a little rounder sound, a little more mid-range. than others I've tried, but I'm waiting to hear back from Alan Hamel (I think that's his name) about the Hamel pickup Bill Hullett was raving about. If Bill says it, I'll probably believe it. I'm selling stuff already so I can afford those pickups. |

I like them alot. The uncovered Blues Special neck pickup is about as good as a neck pickup gets in a Tele. I like the looks of the nickel cover, but the uncovered Blues Special sounds much, much better than anything else I've heard. The bridge pickup is not as bright and icepicky as a stock Tele bridge pickup, but it's still bright and snappy. Just a little warmer, fuller and smoother. I'd buy them again. Bill
