Tele player with Marty Stewart??

Who was the tele player with Marty S. on the Grand ole Opry? Song was "Too Much Month at the end of the Money." He played a tele with a Bigsby trem. Anybody know his name - I saw him play live years ago with the Sweethearts of the Rodeo- always wondered who he was.

I just watched that on the tele-vision. He's a nice player & isn't that bad of a singer too. I see he uses the Bigsby for a couple of songs; nice of Marty to give him the stage for one. 8)

I watched the show as well, I liked the look on his face when Marty offered him his chance to sing. When Marty is on the Opry there seems to be more excitement going on. His enthusium and energy is contagious amongst all the performers.

All those boys in Marty's band are from Mississippi. Marty is from Phidelphia, Ms. and Kenny is from Knoxapater (ms). Pretty cool of Marty to use homies, plus they're all good players. I live about 90 miles from Marty's home town. I got to hang out with Marty and the Hag a couple months ago after the show they did in Oxford, Ms. The university chancellor throwed a big party(Merle's b-day). The highlight was meeting and having a great conversation with Norman Steven (Lefty Frizell's original guitar player) Norman was playing with Merle and man did he play some great stuff.

Tele player with Marty Stewart??

Hi Phil,

Kenny Vaughn was playing a G&L ASAT Classic. Marty's Tele and Kenny's G&L sure did sound good together on that one song they played.

Thanks for the info

I've heard him play before and was always impressed - just a "guitar and amp" kind of guy - my favorite.

Saw that last night

Great tone. How about those Fender SF amps? Looked like a Twin on top of a Super to me. I could be wrong. I loved the Bigsby.

I was impressed by that Kenny fellow. The G&L sounded nice .
I thought Marty had 2 Twins stacked and Kenny had a Twin tilted on legs, for sure Kenny's
tone was snappier. I did like Martys steel -like solo , wish I had of taped it so I could
steal those steel licks!

I saw a Carr amp...

sitting to the left of the tilted back twin. Couldn't tell if it was the amp that Kenny was using or not. Whatever amp he was using, it was sure working for him! Tone to die for. I really enjoyed watching him because his Asat is the same color as mine, 'cept I have a tortoise shell guard. (And no Bigsby).

Yeah, Kenny's GREAT!

I was breaking down my Saturday night gig Sunday morning and saw the show at the bar.

Kenny has modified his spectacles a bit, they used be real thick "Buddy Holly" frames. He was playing with Lucinda Williams a couple of years ago and we dubbed him Poindexter or "Poiny".

Great player and fun to watch.

Re: Tele player with Marty Stewart??

Ten or more years ago I saw Marty with the great Ray Flacke in his band. Marty sang Charlie Rich's "Who Will the Next Fool Be;" when Ray soloed, he brought tears to my eyes. Great song, great player.
