What a bunch of sweet assss guitars........................
And check out the old "strat" with the Black&White photo of the original owner.... Setzer's not playing around. If your going to get a couple Fender's , That's how you do it.

which raises a question......
how does one get a guitar that clean? i mean, there's absolutely no rust or oxidation on the bridge AT ALL. almost seems impossible on a '50.
otherwise, that's one of the finest specimens i've ever seen.

To fearofnormalcy...
It is hard to believe that there are ancient guitars out there which can be that clean, but check out the book "Norman's Rare Guitars". Norm has some Broadcasters that make Setzer's look like it's beat up!. jvc

I've been on the net since 1993 and in the past 10 years I have seen more Broadcasters for sale than were evem produced. No doubt some of those ultra clean ones are fakes.

re "fakes"
Yeah I agree Mark, there are a lot of fakes out there, when vintage dealer George Gruhn says that he won't buy a guitar unless you can provide documentation, you know the fakes are getting really really good!
That said, I'm sure Brian Setzer knows enough about vintage guitars that he didn't go into the deal blindly. He sure has some nice axes! |

Not callin' it a fake but ...
If that thing was on Ebay I'd sure check the beejabbers out of the seller's feedback!
It's clean, and if it's real he has the BEST one I've ever seen!

Got to Love the Internet
I wouldn't even be allowed in the same room with that guitar. That is the beauty of technology.

0033 Broadcaster
I believe the #0033 might be pictured in the Telecaster Bible. I could be wrong, BUT I THINK I read in Vintage guitar years ago that #0033 walked through the door at a 3 Amigo's Texas Guitar Show back in the early 90's.

Has he ever played it live?
And I thought Brian was just a Gretsch snob...Guess I was wrong. It's nice to see Fenders in his arsenal, especially that '57 "blue" one...
I wonder if he has ever played any of these on stage? I can't even picture him performing with something not big, bulky and hollow bodied! (I'm not knocking Gretsch here.....just making an observation)!!!! |

About the fakes...
Ya'll should read the rants of Ed Roman. I'm warning you, he's not a Fender fan. He's got a great gallery of guitars, and he'll tell you what he thinks and why. I don't by any means agree with everything that he says, but its food for thought.

Norm's book...Broadcaster and Tele heaven....
I think you can get Norm's book on his store website www.normansrareguitars.com or order it from J.K. Lutherie and other booksellers. No affiliation, just a great book! jvc

Fenders in his arsenal, especially that '57 "blue" one..." The first time I saw the Stray Cats live in the early '80s, Brian played a 1st generation'50s S/B Strat through a 4x10 Tweed Bassman. It was when "Stray Cat Strut" was a hit. They played under a big carnival tent of all things. Scotty Moore and a lot of those guys from his era were there. A fond memory. |

Brian is definitely a great match for that Broady...
he's such a dynamite player and seems to be a really cool guy too (check out his Hot Licks instructional video). He used Fenders in the past mainly for his solo albums, you can hear a lot of Strat tracks in them. I read an interview in which he said that Telecasters are as cool as Gretsches; I like them all and agree wholeheartedly!!!!

Setz likes Teles
Setzer once said that the only guitar that gets him close to that "Great Gretsch Sound" is a Tele. I have to agree.
The rear pickup on a Tele with a little bit of overdrive gives you that meaty sound with an edge to it--puts it in the same family as p90s, FilterTrons, and DeArmonds. But when I think Setzer, I think Gretsch. He looks so cool with 'em-- why is it when I pick up a Gretsch I look like a dork?:) |

I donno, I've heard a lot of the Fender clones (Anderson, et al) and my Real Fender Telecaster™ is to my liking. I have about $900 into it. I'm sure Ed makes great stuff, but unless the headstock says "Fender" on it, I'm not as likely to play it.
