For future reference, you can click on "View Your Posts" and check any of your old posts to see your avatar. It's quicker and easier than typing a new post.

Thanks

Thanks Telemike, but the reason I was checking it this way was because I tried about 4 different pic's before I was finally happy, and didn't know which one took effect.
I'm still new at this so thanks for the tip.

Speaking of avatar's, how do you make one. I've tried reducing the size and resolution to make it the proper byte size and it's sooooo dang small I can barely see it. Even then I can't get it under 9k in size. I think the max is 4k.

sizing

I use a program called "Photoworks" It has a scale icon on the toolbar and I just reduced it to 60X80 and it seems to be just the right size. My avatar is 60X80 and 5k.

Several people have struggled with that. There are a few tricks to get the image quality optional in small sizes.

I have helped a couple get theirs right, see this thread for one of them:

I will be happy to help you too, just send me the original picture and I shall see what I can do. 8)

thanks for offering to help, I just figured out how to do it. Photoshop has a "Save for Web" function which reduces the byte size small enough to make an avatar. Now I'll just experiment around with it to get a good pic. Thanks again!
