Hey, here's a "Strele" question...
I'm going to build an interesting project for a buddy who wants a Tele body with a strat pickup configuration. I'm thinking one master volume, one master tone and a 5-way switch, all of which could fit into a "hot dog" Tele cavity. And Warmoth does a Tele pickguard that will accomodate strat neck and middle pickups (i have a set of Lawrence strat pickups lying around that I will give him). The big question is, will the strat bridge pickup fit into a Tele bridge and Tele bridge rout? Or would I have to combine two Lawrence strat pickups with a tele bridge pickup? Or, is there another pickguard/rout/bridge option that will allow me to use the full set of strat pickups?

If you go to this page about warmoth Tele bodies:
http://www.warmoth.com/guitar/bodies...=tele_standard And click on the "Pickup Routing Options" link, you'll go to this page, where they list the S-S-S option: http://www.warmoth.com/guitar/option...ps_routing.cfm So it looks to me like they'll route one for 3 strat pickups. I guess maybe you'd want to have the bridge drilled for a hardtail Strat. The Tele and Strat bridge pickups seem to be at a different angle. |

Here's one from eBay that may just fill your needs (Item number: 170007999633)...you'd have to drill for a hardtail bridge or route for trem, but it's open for either option...you can copy & paste this into your browser

Be careful though ....
I had Fenders James Burton signature model for a while, it had three lace sensors laid out Strat fashion and i thought "yeah, great idea" but it didn't sound like a Strat and it sure as heck didnt sound like a Tele either !

why on earth would anybody defuse the Tele's main strength (bridge pup) for the characterless Strat bridge sound????
FWIW, JMHO, YMMV, etc.!

I'm an old die hard Strat player, but my players have Tele style bridge pickups for strat installed. When I really need a bridge tone, I use a Tele. Seems to me this would be the main reason to build a guitar of this configuration. |

Actually, the option I'm leaning toward is a pickguard that will hold two Strat pickups and a Tele bridge (w/Tele bridge pickup, of course). I agree, the strat bridge pickup by itself has no use in my world, unless that pickup is packing some serious beef. Even then, I still prefer a good tele bridge pickup, but I'm building this sucker for someone else. I think the strat-strat-tele option will satisfy him.
