Re-stringing tele with vintage pegs
I've got an Aerodyne Telecaster with vintage pegs. How do you change strings on these pegs? Are there anywebsites with pictures where I can see how this is done?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks. |

This is a joke, right?
It's pretty self explanatory if you check the tunesrs out...but in case you haven't figured it out already: http://www.cleverjoe.com/articles/ho...-a-guitar.html It's at the bottom...just in case you think that I pointed you to the wrong "tutorial"!

You can also have a look here. It tells you how to string vintage tuners, but gives lots of set-up information about your guitar as well!

hi fezza, welcome to vintage-hausen!
if you mean vintage type tuners: i fiddle the string through the body and stretch it to the tuner. then i cut it off one length of my finger longer than the distance. then i stick the end into the tuner and do the tuner thing. watch out that the last round is closest to the headplate. i find it much easier to change strings this way, than the modern way. |

Thanks everyone. I know it may be obvious to to some people but if you've never had these type of pegs before then you have to ask stupid questions!
Another thing - I want to re-string with the same guage strings but use a different manufacturer - do i have to get the intonation re-set if i do this? I've just had the guitar set professionally but don't want to have to take it back in just becuase i've changed string manufacturer. Cheers. |

Pull the string tight, cut it two tuners past the one you are using; 6th string pull to the 4th tuner--cut it-- stick it in the hole of the 6th tuner-- give it a 90 degree bend towards the body of your axe-- wind the string so that every wrap is beneath the previous one. Tune to proper pitch-- grab string where the body meets the neck and pull the string away from the guitar to stretch the string, Be careful on the 1st & 2nd strings that you don't break 'em--retune to pitch-- I do this twice some times three times. Good luck. More than likely as long as your using the same guage of strings, your set up will not have to be adjusted.
Keep on rockin' in the free world
