2 tone sunburst body pickguard colour?

I've nabbed an ash MIJ 2-tone sunburst 50s reissue body off ebay and when it gets here I'm putting a rosewood board neck on it.

What colour pickguard would suit best, in your humble opinions? White, cream, parchment, mint or black?

Cream, parchment and mint...and sometimes even tortoise...I put a tortoise guard on an old 3-tone sunburst Strat and it looks neat...

Timing

Ffunny you should ask that right now, I have had a black one on my MIM 50's Classic for the last two years and only yesterday put a white one back on it.
The black looks great but white somehow makes it look more original on a 2 tone sunburst.

i had the same basic set up once and went with a gold anodized p/g. got a lot of compliments on it too. that p/g also added a certain zing to the sound of the guitar.

congrats,

s.

I have a MIM,sunburst tele on hold for me and although I like the look of the white,I'm looking real hard for a mint pg.I think it'll give an aged vibe without the blood, sweat and most likely tears of a horrible looking relic attempt.K

I'd deffinately go the gold annodized, I did that with my 1997 CE tele and it looks really sweet. Second would be the good old white pearl.

I'm a sucker for black...

I love the Bakelite guards with 2 tone sunburst. I still have a bakelite guard waiting for my next 2 tone body.

I put a black pickguard on my sunburst Tele, because I think it looks good with the maple neck. With a rosewoood fretboard, I'd vote for white, for more contrast.

My favorite is cream pearl. I have a Squier 51 with that combo. I will try to post a pic. My photo hosting site is down right now for maintenance.

I think that a mint green pickguard fits perfectly the 2-tone sunburst ;)

Take a look at my 2-tone sunburst Rockinger strat:

Q/T page

I think ol' Q/T looks pretty good with a tortie 'guard. It's an MIJ 50's RI, too.

I really like the look of tortoise on a sunburst:

...smudges and flash-glare not withstanding.

Really, JohnS, black/white/black looks much better.

I am thinking about a tortoise guard for my sunburst Jazz Bass, though.

I think the key is "rosewood" board. I think a black guard on a sunburst body, or black body WITH a rosewood board...is the way to go.

White or cream with maple boards for me.

Pickguard

I have a 2000 mim Sunburst Strat which i put a Mint green pickguard and aged white p/u covers/knobs and I think it looks great.

I also put a Parchment pickguard on my 2005 tele.

So those are my suggestions.
