Paisley Pickguard Project Complete!
Thanks to Gunslinger - who took my rough image (talked about here: http://www.tdpri.com/forum/bad-dog-c...-question.html) and made it a reality - I now have this:
![]() I printed the image he created on yellowish paper that was purchased at a craft store. If anyone else is interested in using the image he made for a pickguard I uploaded it to the photo gallery here: http://www.tdpri.com/telephoto/data/552/medium/tele.jpg If for some reason that doesn't work for you, PM me and I'll send you the original file. Since I have the strings off I'm going to try to install my Glendale bridge this weekend. Thanks again Gunslinger! PS ~ I posted this in the Bad Dog by mistake and am copying it here. |

AWESOME!
Hey Timmer,
I love the idea you came up with and I'm planning on doing it although i have 2 questions: 1. Did you use yellow paper that is the same color as the guitar? 2. And did you just put the screws right through the paper and then put the clear pickguard right on top? Or did you do anything else to adhere everything together? Thanks! |

Thanks guys and welcome to the forum Sambabean.
To answer your questions, yes - I used a yellowish cardstock that I found at Michaels. I had to use "pastel yellow" to match the vintage white of the guitar. It's actually a shade or two lighter than the guitar but for some reason when it's surrounded by all of the black on the design it matches the guitar. Yes again, I traced the outline from the clear pickguard, cut it out, and punched the screws right through it. Not very subtle but it works! I can email the pattern to you, if you want it and that goes for anyone here. Just PM me with your email address and I'll shoot it out to you. Here's the design which shows that the paisley's are transparent allowing the color of the paper through. ![]() Here was the inspiration: ![]() I spent weeks looking for a paisley fabric both in stores and online but couldn't find anything close. I finally got fed-up and was going to get a graphics tablet to trace the design and print it on paper. That's where the initial thread on this starts: http://www.tdpri.com/forum/bad-dog-c...-question.html.

This thread gave me an idea... so here is my homemade paisley pickguard, I drew it on a black paper with yellow and white color pencils, pens, etc and put a clear pickguard on top... the drawing part was long.... but I'm really happy with the result ;-)
