Redd plays a couple shows weekly at the Continental Club (Welcome to the Continental Club) and Ginny's (Ginny's Little Longhorn Austin Texas).

Johnny Hiland may be in town next week for NAMM, but he doesn't live or play in Austin on any regular basis.
Go to The Austin Chronicle: July 7, 2006 and look at the music listings there. I imagine that with NAMM in town Fri, Sat and Sun that there will be a lot going on. I just looked at Thrus, Fri and Sat and it's not too packed. Gary P. Nunn on Friday a the Broken Spoke, The Derailers on Sat at Gruene Hall. Pinetop Perkins's 93rd birthday party at Antones on Thrusday looks to bring out lots of blues legends. I'm not even sure Redd is playing. I didn't see him listed anywhere. |

Bill's new CD is ready and should be for sale. It's got his new song - "Hammer of the Honky Tonk Gods" on it. Too bad Redd Volkaert is 'On the Road' Go here http://www.reddvolkaert.net/default.html and click on the TOUR button. I'm keeping an eye on Keith Gattis' website as well. He has moved back to Austin and has been playing some low profile gigs around town. I caught him at a little smokefilled bar up on Burnet Road (Buddy's Place) a week or so ago and I was very impressed.

This thread reminds me of why I moved here. I'm so happy to live here, and just deal with all the daily things that make this town wonderful.
Free everything, etc. Last night I paid a $4.00 cover for 6 hours of entertainment, and won a free drink and had FREE BBQ at the [adult swim] party. Trust me, I ate at least $10 bucks worth of Ruby's BBQ... Thanks for the reminder chet!

Went to see Redd Volkaert for the first half of his show. I have to get up early tomorrow and the work is going to be too hard to lose too much sleep tonight.
It was a fine show in a small honkytonk type of bar. Mr. Volkaert is a good singer which I didn't realize before and his lady steel guitar player is exceptional- as is the rest of the band. He was playing a clear finished Tele- I didn't get close enough to see the details of it. He played thru a Peavey amp, I think. The pub didn't charge a cover so I put ten dollars in the tip jar that the waitress carried around for the band- least I hope it was for the band. ha ha A small price to pay for some great music. I wasn't disappointed and the band exceeded my expectations. |

Ya I'm a bit cornfused too.
I went to Threadgills site, if you click the Saturday show, you'll find "Tres Telecasters" at 8:00 as the opener.... Hmm, I just looked again http://www.threadgills.com/bandinfo2...5&mo=7&ye=2006

Bill is playing tomorrow night at Threadgills. I saw him today at NAMM. He wanted me to tell everyone that he is the opening act. If you go to Threadgills website he said to click on the headliner's name and you'll see that he IS playing just the early show.
He's bringing Three Telecasters.... hence the name Tres Telecasters. Paul Green PS. I just checked Threadgills calendar and it shows Bill's name now. He told me he called Threadgills and complained about not being on their website calendar. |
