Isn't this cool. (eBay 61 Esquire Custom)

Assuming this is the real thing, isn't it just cool? A 1961 double bound Custom Esquire. Ok, it is refin'ed and has a new pickguard, but still... 8)

Same year as me!

This is my dream guitar, to bad its been refinished and the pickguard changed.
I passed up one last year just like it, the guy wanted $7200 for it and I thought that was to much for one thats been refinished.

Yeah, the refin was only 5 years back, and I would not think anyone would do that to an original finish. So I assume it had been painted in something totally unappropriate earlier some time in history, and this was done to bring it back to "original".

bad paint

I just saw a '63 Esquire in a Sam Ash store last week. It has been painted forest green with a brush and had little flowers all over it(think hippie flower power bus).
I think they were asking around $3500 for it. I told them I would give them $2000 for it, they didn't go for it.
That one would have to be refinished.

Hey, you should have brought a camera! Oh, and I am sure that at least some people here would have liked it just the way it is...

Anyway, speaking of sunburst, here is one of my favourites. All original. Rumble Seat Music had it, asking 19500 dollars. Someone bought it.

That Esquire is beautiful. I've never cared for bursts, or binding, (no offense, just not my style) but that guitar could change my mind about both.
