pleasantly surprised
a while back a friend's kid asked for help choosing a guitar, so his Dad and i took him around to some shops, and i gave him some rudimentary info on things to look out for (y'know, sharp fret ends, etc...) he didn't buy anything that day, though he seemed most interested in "shred-sled" Ibanez RG Floyd/pointy types....
i later found out he'd bought a used Tele because it was what he could afford..... This afternoon the kid called and said he really needed some money, and asked if i'd be interested in his guitar, so i said "maybe, bring it by so i can see it" mostly to stall for time while i called his Dad.... long story short, i bought it for $125, and i'm seriously impressed with this one ! it's a Midnight Blue Mim Std, & judging by the seam lines under the paint the body appears to have 8 or 9 pieces, but the bathroom scale reads 7 1/2 lbs all up, and it has some serious twang with the stock Pups too ! My wife was out while this transpired, she comes in the door calling out for me to close my eyes....she lays a brand spankin' new Lite Ash Tele in my lap, gives me a kiss and says, "Just because" ! Knock me over with a feather, 2 Teles outta the blue in one day !! i musta done something right somewhere along the line.....man o' man am i Blessed !! ![]()

Congratulations
That's quite a day you had there, maestrovert. Too bad you don't have 4 arms, then you could play 'em both at the same time.

Man...you must be doing something right.
I'd have your wife can mine, but it wouldn't do any good. Looks great. Enjoy.

Wellthat's a great day in any Tele lover's life.
But if you think that's good, you better keep an eye out. Things like this usually happen in threes. It may not fall into your lap, literally likr the Lite Ash, but I reckon there's another Tele out there with your name on it. However, as I'm typing, I'm seeing a problem that may very well crop up. With your wife buying you that, as you say, "just because", she may be somewhat offended or have hurt feelings if you happen to buy another in the immediate future. |
