He's partial to Ricks, especially in the early period, but I remember seeing old pic of him playing a tele custom or a thinline...

That's Jeff Beck. He's played Teles and Esquires from the early 60's on.

I was way off.
The shot looks like it's late 70s/early 80s (the "small" T shirt gave me that idea) but I didn't think Beck looked like that back then, hair and face wise...
