Tele neck pickup

Just bought a Tele copy (Monterey) and I've noticed that when I tap the neck pickup the tapping sound comes right through the amp I never noticed it on my previous Tele as it had Strat style pickup. Should the chrome pickups make this noise when tapped?. I'm a bit concered that the pup might be microphonic .

Cheers Marty

Nothing wrong with a microphonic p/u---unless it bothers you. It contributes to the Tele sound.

I agree. A microphonic pup adds to the complexity of the sound. It’s only bad if it squeals. Then it needs to be potted.

What are you tapping with ............ a finger? I tap pickups with a small metal object to see if they are working.

I'm using a guitar pick ,plastic, I know the trick for testing pickups with a metal object.when I pay sitting down I have a tendency to pick the strings over the neck pickup. If this is normal I may have to change my playing style a bit
