My Capri Orange Telecaster!

I bought this wonderful, 1978 Telecaster about two years ago . Itīs from the "International Custom Colour Series", (Maui Blue, Monacco Yellow etc...) This oneīs Capri Orange, with a maple neck and fretboard. Itīs not all original. The previous owner switched the vintage 3 saddlebridge for a modern 6 instead. I have made some changes myself. First I changed the white pickguard to a white mother-o-pearl... I also had to do a re-fret and I choose to put on Dunlop 6150īs instead of the small, skinny ones that was on before. Maybe some of you think Iīm crazy making all theese changes to an old Tele, but I really enjoy the way the guitar has turned out since I "customized" it a bit! I play Country music, and I prefer a guitar that is very easy to play. I have set the action as low as it goes (and the strings are still easy to bend...) I have Dean Markley Blue Steel .010-046 on it.

I live in Sweden and I paid 10.000 crowns for it. (thatīs 1364 US dollars)
Itīs a one-of-a-kind guitar! Any other Capri Orange Teleīs out there?!?

I've seen some on ebay for sale recently, they look to be a special run/purchase by a dealer.

Yeah - I agree. Some good quality pics would be really nice. I like the sound of the Capri Orange. I can't say I've EVER seen that finish before, so I'll be very interested to see it.

How does it sound?

Here she is...

Here is a picture of her. I needed some money earlier this year and I had it up for sale on a Swedish website. I had one guy who was interested in buying it and I later found that he had discussed the guitar here on the TDPRI forum!!! He was asking people if he should buy it or not... He didnīt buy it though, and I am thankful! I am no longer in any financial problems and I will keep this wonderful guitar for the rest of my chickenpickinī life!!!

I also know that people discuss if itīs from 1978 or 1981, 82 etc... I am not sure either. The serial number says: S8... (1978), but the Capri Orange finish was "new" in 1981. The International Custom Colour series had black screws and black knobs (I have heard) Mine hasnīt though...

What more can I say about it: Itīs a bit heavy, made out of ash. It has a very thin neck, wich makes it very fast and slick. The finish on the neck isnīt as thick and sticky as they used to be in the 70īs. Itīs not satin, but very close...

It sounds GREAT! Nice bite in the bridge, good honk in the middle and jazzy and warm in the neck position! It sound pretty much like a Telecaster!

You know, other than red paisley, double bound sunbursts, blackguards, and sea foam green, that might be my favorite Tele look.

Fortunately I am swimming in unfinished bodies right now, and Krylon makes an appropriate orange. I think mine will have double white binding.

Here's mine. Not a very sharp pic. Just recently got this and haven't had it set up yet or spent much time with it.

Would love to see a double bound one!!!!

Not Capri, but it's orange! A special Kevin B. custom color that I truly love. One of a kind...
