a visit to my local Music store opened my mind..(STC)
i'll cut right to it.. a freind who works at The Local Music Store demo'd a Line 6 "GuitarPort" for me. now I'm an old guy and i usually dismis anything musical done on computers.(closed mind) but i thought this was really cool.
basically for a couple hundred bucks you get this little red box ... well check it out on the web site.. anyway there i was playing through Stevies set up jammin' along with Double Trouble. OK i played a Highway MIA Sunburst Tele, Very nise. anyway i have found that sitting at home practising is great however i know a lot of guys who sit at home and are really good until they have to interact with other musicians, this may be the best and most fun way to practace that i have seen. thought some of you may be inerested. For some reason
I stoped playing along with records...I did it all the time when I was a kid, but when tab books became available I gave it up...My wife recently bought me a nice CD boom box for my music room and a friend gave me a deluxe copy of the Howlin Wolf London Sessions..I was just jaming along the other night..great fun..The Guitar Port does sound cool, too bad no MAC version.

Thanks for the info....sounds cool!
I apprecaite learning about these things. I've seen them advertised in GP since they came out, but like you, I'm old school ( much to my detriment ) when it comes new technology. I just purchsed a little Kustom PA for $199.00 on a closeout as my wife and I do occasional weddings, funerals, etc. and we needed a nice sounding, portable PA. I hooked it up last Friday, plugged in my Behringer V-Amp & tele. Loaded the CD player with Willie Nelson, Kenny Blue Ray, Merle Haggard, Leroy Parnell and Albert King. Found a nice clean / gritty setting on the V-amp and proceeded to play for about 3 hours. I had not done this in years! My wife came home, sat down, closed her eyes and just listened for an hour & a half. She said she enjoyed it as much as I did. I had forgotten how good that is for your playing. Not only that, it was soooo relaxing. I had a very stress filled week at work and those few hours of playing did wonders for my state of mind. For those of you who have not done this in a few years, try it! I can't wait for a little free time to jam with Albert, Freddie, Kenny, Eric, Shuggie, Otis, BB, etc!
